*He hadn't thought he'd encounter something like this when he went to check for replies to his post earlier that morning.
killed YHVH - his eyes scanned the words several times, his mouth following as he tried to give them meaning. For the first several attempts his mind refused to see it, verb and Tetragrammaton unrelated anomalies in the midst of the message.
killed
YHVH
killed...
A heaviness forms in the pit of his stomach as it finally comes together and his mind starts racing, his hands tremble and then clench above the keyboard as his mouth starts to dry. Somewhere in there, he's aware of the impossibly cruel God Naoya described in Meridian, but even knowing that possibility, the thought of any version of the God he serves being killed pulls at the back of his throat like nausea. An Enoch who had never met Naoya in Meridian may have been immediately enraged, but the knowledge that there was a chance it may have been against a tyrant tempers that, adds sorrow and pain in a completely different way. But he can't even accept that. He can't be all right with the death of any version of God. Everything all four centuries of his life has meant to him rides on that. Churning hot and deathly cold settle in his gut at once, despair and rage at war.
He forces his hands to unclench, but can't do any more as he stares at the keyboard. His fingers are shaking too much to type. His mind can scarcely form words to begin with. Eventually, he reaches over instead to turn on the video feed.
And all he can do is stare into the camera, mouth and throat working desperately to speak but his mind not supplying the words, his face the very image of the conflict pulling his mind and body into discord.
For now, it seems, that's all the response Aleph will see from him.*
[ultimately video] but might as well be action too I am so sorry
