[Something was off about the tower today.

For starters, there seemed to be far more people prowling about than Haldir last remembered. Over the years, there's been a steady decline of new arrivals here to Animus. Much of the friends he once knew were either dead or dying. Not many races could out live the Firstborns of Ilúvatar. The Elves, for better or for worse, have been cursed with longevity. Most of Haldir's kind are truly immortal in a sense. Many Elves never aged at all, including the march warden.

So this would explain why he seems so baffled as of why there's so many lurking about here. Has the Administrators found other worlds to ravage? Perhaps. He always doubted that they were doing more good than harm.]

How uncommon. There hasn't been this many newcomers since the old days.

[A slight frown settles upon his lips. Just why is there so many people here? It's so...sudden.]

I bid thee welcome! We seldom see so many newcomers; for it has been thousands of years, but we welcome all. If you're in need of aid, do not hesitate to ask. There's many amongst us who would be glad to assist you.

[Forcing himself to rid himself of his frown, Haldir actually smiles somewhat, though it's an awkward one.]

I can assure you that no harm shall come to you here. Just be certain to stay away from the floors above. That is where the danger lies.

Are you really telling new arrivals they'll be safe? It isn't only the higher levels, the dormitory rooms seem to be the only truly safe areas. At least say 'you should be alright during the day'.

Perhaps we should mention the spare weaponry in the workshop. Better they be armed since few will actually heed such a warning, love.

[He sighs deeply. There's always someone harping upon his words.] Do you truly believe I wouldn't speak of such details later?

Overwhelming them with information is hardly the way to greet them.

[Haldir couldn't help but chuckle at that suggestion.] You are truly too hasty to offer them a sword rather than bread, cund vuin.

If they can fight then they will have no difficulty hunting when food is short.

[If he didn't love Haldir so, he'd object to being called prince. Only the march warden could get away with it after all these years.]

[He gives the redhead an odd glance.] Of course not! Those mushrooms are poisonous, and are better suited in moderation.

Nor is misinformation. If they look at the message and don't reply, they'll go on their way thinking themselves safe.

[The march warden honestly gets away with too much. Only he can openly disagree with Legolas with almost no repercussion. Others? They are not so fortunate, usually.]

Fair enough, but not everyone is fit to be a huntsman like you.

Unless I missed something, none of us have been here for thousands of years, slick.

[He considers that for a moment.]

[The elf would argue that the tower is indeed "safer" than the worlds ruined by destruction and war, but he won't. This man, despite how blunt, does have a valid point. The tower isn't as safe as Haldir would hope it to be, but certain areas of it are safe enough.]

...I suppose so. [He utterly detests admitting his wrong, but he doesn't want anyone to get hurt on his account.]

Although, the Administrators have been rather lax in their efforts as of late. This certainly works in our favor.

Oh, you're still so humble after all these years? [He chuckles.] You must be in order to compare us so evenly.

I do remember you've won that "contest" between us a month ago.

[It was a close call but Legolas did manage to slay seven fowls to Haldir's six. Of course, they donated the food to the pantry, but Legolas won nonetheless.]

Maybe they're getting old just like the rest of us. Or grown tired of their pet-project.

[There's confusion within Haldir's gaze.] You fool!

How dare you compare me to them! I cannot say I remember your face, but I know the years quite well.

[He's clearly becoming a tad frustrated here. The elf honestly hates being called a "liar" above all things else.]

Let us hope it's a little of both. [He smiles sadly.] That would mean that freedom may come soon.

I've been here since March 3rd in the first year. If it's been thousands of years, how come you don't know me?

[He's still thinking about this, then his expression clears and snaps his fingers as if he figured it out.]

Damn, it's Riki's month. I get it... that explains the weird flicker at midnight and the lady that thought it was five years in the Tower already. You guys are Towerized.

We might as well be evenly matched for the many years we've fought and trained together.

[Hmph, one contest out of how many they've had over the years? Legolas wouldn't let Haldir trade Legolas' modesty for his own.]

I recall that contest ended quite close. It could have easily been you.

[A rather snippy comment from someone who prides himself in being kind. It would seem the redhead is already plucking his nerves.]

[He blinks his eyes curiously.]

The common tongue is filled with such inelegant words it seems.

[Reno doesn't seem to mind the snipping.]

If you got a better word for being under the affect of one of the experiments, I'm all ears.

It could've been had the quail I hunted wasn't a young mother of three.

[It's a golden rule amongst his kind to never kill a mother and her children. Only creatures that weren't nursing or raising young were allowed to be hunted.]

Nevertheless, I do acknowledge my own prowess in combat.

How dare you suggest Haldir is one of them!

[He scoffs.] How can you be so certain without any proof?

Exactly! And you know I'll not let you ever deny your own skill.

[Even if he had born human, Legolas was sure he'd have never killed any animal with children yet to care for.]

I wonder about that. If they allow us to go free, then where will we go? Into whatever is waiting in the rest of this world?
