[A new face the network's seen at least once before appears on the screen. He's wet, like many other people using the network right now, and also looks pretty pissed. Other than that, he looks to be fairly okay- eh, well, he doesn't look horribly injured, at least.]


...From what people were telling me when I first got here, I was fucking expecting explosions, horrible medical experiments, monsters, and other stupid shit like that. And so far all that's happened is this god awful weather? What the hell. I don't wanna say some of you were jerking me around 'cause I still haven't been here long...but...this is kinda...disappointing.

[Yata's the type that likes a challenge and rushes headfirst into everything. Even when things look bad he's not the type to give up. It's almost as if he feels he's been underestimated and is personally insulted by it.]

...Yeah, I probably worded that in a really shitty way. It's not that I wish the tower was worse, I just don't want anyone making it sound worse than is because they think I'm weak.

[It's not the first time he's landed himself in trouble because he did something that probably wasn't the smartest thing to do. The thing is, he doesn't want anyone underestimating him and has a thirst to prove himself. Unfortunately, that is acting as a flaw at the moment.]

[He sighs again. He's not sure if this guy will care or not, but he continues.]

It's not that I want the tower to be more dangerous. Just kinda tired of people underestimating what I can handle because I look so young and am short. I probably should have made that more clear...

[He feels a little awkward here, not really knowing what to say. He's not quite used to people being concerned about him. He's honestly a little flustered.]

[He hangs his head a minute, looking kind of sad.]

I can't believe I never looked at it that way. I'm an idiot, just like Kusanagi-san said.

[He suddenly perks up a bit.]

Well I can't let that get me down. Now that I have looked at it that way, all I can do is use that information to move forward.

I wouldn't say you're an idiot. It's certainly not an unusual standpoint to want to be taken seriously.

[Xue shrugged.]

Don' be mentionin' it mon, jus' stay safe an' we be good.

[She really didn't like others being hurt, especially nice ones like Yata. She had to admit, she grew fond of him quick.]

I don't know how you'd get into trouble for saying that to be honest unless one of the people running the tower heard this too and decided they want to meet your expectations.

It's just I'm surprised since I've never heard someone say something like that before.

You're pretty nice, and you've made me feel a little better. Uh...

[He falters here, feeling a little awkward and wanting to say more...]

Do you like...curry? Maybe...we can try to go make one in the kitchen...

[Maybe offering to cook for or with this guy would be a way to say thanks for being so nice? It'd help him overcome his awkward.]

...I think it's safe to say I stopped being safe the minute I was brought to this tower, so it's too late for that. The best I can do is stay strong! I'm from HOMRA, damn it, and I'll make them proud!

...It's not that I want the tower more dangerous. I just don't want the bastards underestimating me. Sure, they can fuck with me all they want but they're gonna have work pretty fucking hard to break me completely.

[Xue nods and looks at him for a bit longer before cutting the video feed.

She could feel he could handle himself, but she hoped that he wasn't going to get himself over his head... It'd be a shame if his spirit was broken by this vile place... It's a very alluring one.]

I can't handle spicy food, but I'm sure there's something else we could make.

[Katsuya almost became a dessert chef instead of a policeman. He's pretty sure he can make something.]

...Well then, if you'd like to cook, we can make something that's not spicy.

[Yata has a history of bonding with people over cooking, so he's happy about this prospect.]

[Yata quietly makes his way to the kitchen, being really careful, considering some of the things he's heard about the tower. He makes it there uneventfully, and immediately starts looking around for the guy, wishing he'd thought to ask his name...]

[Thankfully it had been video, so when Katsuya makes it there he immediately spots him and heads over.]
