Then, if you will, think of the collective unconscious as the conglomeration of mankind's hopes and despair, compassion and hubris, joy and sorrow, dreams and nightmares, the desire to grow and change for the better--and also the desire for destruction and degradation. There is no true good and evil... only the many shades of both that exist in every human being.
