[Ryuho switches on the machine, but keeps fiddling with it a few moments, obviously trying to get a hang of the technology.]

Hello. [He began, his voice soft and almost vacant-sounding.]

Who's out there? I'm not sure what to make of these letters. Can all of this really be true?

[He pauses, shifting uncomfortably in the white outfit. His collar is blue.]

Is anyone else here from Japan?

[Elian's face showed initially as impassive as he listened to the message. It wasn't long before his hands started to shake. Is it true? His own violet collar peeked from under his jacket's protection.

The letters said that he was the last one from his world. That he was the one rescued from that place. The way Ryuho was acting seemed off. He did remember a time that he was lost to his system back home. Maybe he had crossed into the Other Side.

It had to be.

He forced back the tears that threatened to come. It's so strange to feel like this.]

Ryuho.

[There is a pause while he recomposed himself.]

It's me. Elian.

[calculatedfire]

[Ryuho looked at Elian, blinking in confusion for a moment.]

I'm sorry, I don't know who you are.

[He entirely sure who 'Ryuho' was either, but he didn't move to ask that yet.]

[That wouldn't be a surprise considering that he was virtually invisible to most of HOLY except from those that needed him. He looked at little hurt that he wasn't remembered, but now wasn't the time to argue. There were more pressing matters.]

[It's time to get down to business instead.]

It's not important. I suggest that you do not engage the upper floors.

[Ryuho furrowed his brow, catching the small expression. More emotion shows in his red eyes than normally would, and anyone who knew him would notice the difference in his demenor.]

Do you know me?

[He takes in the information.]

Why is that? [He didn't know if he should know that already or not.]

[Elian gave a small nod.]

Affirmative. We can discuss it another time.

Currently, the Tower is undergoing a rebuilding process and any venture above the dormitory floors would not be advised. Monster containment is still in effect.

[It was like he was back home momentarily. Strangely, he was doing this all along before Ryuho's arrival. For now, he was glad that he was alive despite all the questions he might have later.]

[The boy had called him Ryuho, he wondered if that was his name, but from the way Elian was talking, this wasn't the time to ask.]

Monsters? What do you mean by that?

[There were many monsters in the Lost Ground, of the type that walked on two legs. Bnadits and slavers being the worst of them.]

[Elian was very well aware of those and this place was no different although he hasn't seen anyone do such things openly.]

The creatures of the Alter Forest can rival these beasts. Recently, there was an attack to the Tower itself by means of a giant...whale.

[Even that concept sounded weird to him.]

The whale's entrails soon gave way to monsters that flooded the floors from within the creature. This infestation is being dealt with.

[His expression shows a mixture of disbelief and confusion, but that whale creature could very well be an alter. Considered in that light, it made sense, although the papers had said that this was another world entirely.]

How much of the letter is true?

[Had there been another cataclysm? But how would that destroy the entire Earth?]

As of now, I have my doubts. Research from watching other individuals have stated that they were able to return home to a desolate world. The basis of comparison has been noted to be true by those that have gone and returned.

Further reports suggest that there is a possibility of a permanent death through a selective process. Otherwise, should you die, you will return alive but suffer sleep paralysis.

[On this, he's speaking out of experience. He tried finding a way home to see for himself and was killed in his exploration. The second time was out of carelessness.]

We return from the dead here?

[That was almost too much to be believed. He couldn't even think of an alter that he'd heard of that did that.]

Does anyone know how it happened?

[He's suffered some serious mental blows trying to hack in too.]

With life and death treated as nothing more than a day to day occurrence, I suspect insanity will soon follow.

[He frowned, unsure of how he would deal with that at the moment.]

Actually, I'm not even sure where to begin. I don't know how I got here, or what I was doing beforehand.

I don't even know what my name is, although someone had addressed me as Ryuho.

I just arrived here, but last I knew, I was in the Lost Ground.
