[The video feed comes on first, for an instant showing Kariya's gaunt, haggard face. The left half of it is badly scarred, wasted away, the muscles slack, his left eye dull and pale. He blinks, then frowns at the screen, and the video cuts off as he switches to voice. He didn't mean to show himself.]

Hello. My name is Kariya Matou.

I know so many of you have been suffering, and I'm sorry. I'm sorry for everything that's been done to you. If there's anything I can do to help, I'll try to do it. Even if you just want someone to talk to. I don't think we should be alone here.

[He pauses to catch his breath, a little winded. He's not really sure how to broach his next subject, but he forges ahead.]

There's a question I want to ask, too. If someone could help me-- I have a condition, and I was wondering... If any of you know anything about magical healing, can you contact me? Thank you.

Thank you. That's all right. I didn't think it was likely anyone would be able to help, but I wanted to try.

I hope so. I do want to be nice to the others here. I'm not sure if they want me to be, but I thought I'd offer.

Have you been all right?

I'm okay. My arm got a little busted up, but it ain't serious.

What about you--you gonna be okay?

[He hadn't expected anyone would ask about him. He replies honestly. He has no reason to lie to Labrys.]

I don't know. My condition is getting worse. I'm not sure what I'm going to do, but maybe someone will be able to help.

I'm gettin' someone else to do it, I'd need t' use both hands to do it myself.

...I'm sorry. I can try an' find one a' my friends whose Persona can heal, maybe. Mine can't do anythin' like that yet.

Oh, that makes sense. I hope it's better soon. It's good that there's someone here who can fix you.

A Persona? What's that?

It's...kinda hard to explain. A Persona's kinda like a part of you that you can call on to help ya fight. It's sorta magic and sorta not, I ain't really sure how t' put the specifics inta words.

I could probably show ya mine if I tried--I don't think I've tried callin' her since I got here.

A part of you...? I know a little bit about magic, but I've never heard of anything quite like that. Do only certain people have one?

I'd like to see, if you can show me.

Kinda...I mean, ya gotta confront your Shadow first. it's a lotta complicated circumstances. Lemme see if I can call her here.

[Labrys stepped back from the terminal in order to make sure Kariya could see her clearly. She shifted position almost nervously, metal feet clicking against the floor. Honestly, part of her was worried this might not work despite having seen Narukami use his own Personas on occasion.]

Ariadne-!

[A flash of pale blue light filled the screen for a second or two; as it began to fade, a translucent woman with long silver-blue hair floated behind Labrys, bright scarlet thread in her hands forming intricate designs and shapes around the two of them.]

This is my Persona...her name's Ariadne. They're all different, 'cause they're all a reflection of the person that's callin' them.

I see. It sounds complicated.

[But them, magecraft so often is, to him. He never did master it, or try to, when he was supposed to be studying it. And maybe this isn't magecraft like he knows it. He watches as she summons Ariadne, rapt.] That's amazing.

You can summon her, anywhere... It's a little like having a Servant, but you say she's a part of you?

[What must that be like? Maybe he could fight without it taking such a toll, if he had something like that. Not that it matters now. He can't change how things are.]

What can she do?

Uh...t' tell ya the truth, I ain't really sure myself.

[The woman behind her faded and dissipated into nothing, light fading.]

I know she can fight with that thread a' hers, but I dunno if she can use lightnin' or fire or anythin' like my friends' Personas can. I just learned how t' use her power before comin' here, so I ain't really had time to figure much out yet.

If it's so new to you, I don't blame you for not knowing more about it.

Maybe you can practice here and learn more. Having some way to fight would be useful, and it seems like an incredible power.

You said you had to fight a Shadow? What's that?

A Shadow's kinda...well, everybody's got one, even if it ain't manifested. Y'know those thoughts people have, the ones they don't talk about or really even admit thinkin', even to themselves?

Y'take all those repressed and denied thoughts, put 'em together, and that's a Shadow.

I know the thoughts you mean.

[He has them himself. Lots of them.]

Something like that... It must be very hard to fight. How did you do it?

I had a lotta help. I met some really great friends that helped me through everythin'...there's no way I coulda done it on my own.

It sounds like something no one should have to face alone.

I'm glad you had help. Friends should always stand by each other and help each other.

Yeah, I think so too. So I'll help ya however I can, okay? Cause...y'know, we're friends, right?
