[ the cold doesn't affect him, so seeing him standing there, with his bare arms and not shivering should make a few wonder about what's in his veins. he also looks a little amused about something. ]

Looks like we're going on a diet again. If you want any protein, I'm gonna go hunting in a couple hours. Meat should keep pretty good in this weather so long as it's covered up, so I can get enough to go around.

Reno. That stuff is done brewing. It should keep you warm.

[Pausing, he gives Cloud a hard look.]

You're lookin'... [headtilting in confusion] I don't know what the word is. Happy's too strong but ya aren't all frowning either.

I like this weather. And I guess that I'm glad I managed to remember how to make that stuff without it blowing up on me.

Yeah, well, your paradise gave me the worse case of sunstroke I had ever had before I got boosted like this.

[He's going to conveniently forget the gallon of sun lotion he had to put on every day.]

You think I didn't do that? Even had the sunblock and still got sick. Burned up like a Bomb in one of the hot springs on the mountain.

What'd you do, get lost in the mountains and become one of those ice creatures?

Nope. Closest I got to that was fall in the water and got yelled at a lot about not rescuing Tifa as a kid.

[faint pause here.]

That wasn't in the files...

I doubt that they knew everything. The townsfolk really weren't that close with my family.

I'd been joking, but you really got lost in the mountains or something?

Tifa went up the mountain alone and I followed because it was dangerous. She sprained her ankle and I tried to get her back down the mountain and then the bridge collasped.

It's not a great childhood memory. Guess that's why I remember it.

The ones you remember never are, I guess.

Better than not having any memory at all, right?

[Have a long, long pause as he thinks about that one.]

I don't know 'bout that one, Cloud. Losing memory may be the last resort we got to escaping.

Feel a little of both. Somethings aren't meant to be remembered.

A hunter huh?

[Here's a gal that loves the cold and came from freezing tundras and loves swimming in arctic waters. She likes that someone else seems fine with the temperature drop.]

I hunt my fare share of tings in da tower, I would be more dan happy ta assist if ya don't mind me takin' da skins? I'm a leatherworker, an' I been collectin' pelts and leathers ta help dis cold be more bearable for sum o' da residents.

Mm.

[ He's a mountain boy. The ice and wind and scaling impossible heights just aren't that scary to him. ]

If some use can come out of them, you're welcome to them. And sure, the more hunters, the merrier.

[With that, Xue grabbed her things and set off to meet with the other hunter. She had seen them around often but never really approached. She wondered if they were one of the crazies, but considering what she had seen, it didn't seem that way to her.]

[ Cloud was waiting by the beginning of the the forest floor, his large sword resting against the wall next to him. He had seen the other person around a couple of times, but he had never interacted with them. He didn't think that they were one of the more dangerous people, but he couldn't be certain.

This place did have a lot of oddities after all.

At her approach, he pushed off of the wall to stand up straight. ]

Hi.

Ey der!

[Xue greeted cheerfully. It had been some time since she had a hunting partner and she remembered that hunting in groups tended to be more productive and at times, fun.

She gave him a once over before smiling, he at least looked plenty capable.]

Name's Xue'Kol, pleasure ta be huntin' with ya.

Any idea of what ya be wantin' ta hunt, or are we gonna be lookin' fer anyting dat crosses our paths?

I'm Cloud.

[ He picked up his sword and slid it into his harness, thinking for the moment before shrugging. ]

I'm not sure what we'll find, though something big and not poisonous would be a bonus. Let's keep on eye out and see what we can find.

Cloud huh? Nice ta meet'cha.

[Xue tightened her gloves, double checked her gear and nodded.]

Fair 'nuff. I've hunted 'round dees part before an' dey got nice game. Not all of it edible though as ya said. I be sure we'll find someting good.

I can usually tell the difference but with the cold, somethings may have changed.

[ He pulled his goggles down over his eyes to shield them from snow glare and nodded. ]

Good. Let's hope for a good hunt today.

[With introductions out of the way and spirits high, the troll female seemed to simply vanish in mid-air. Usually it was hard to track the stealthy rogue but the snow that had padded some of the forest due to the temperature revealed where her footsteps went.

She'd remain near Cloud until they spotted their targets and then she'd take to the trees to cut off any would be escape routes.]

[ He was a mountain boy with the skills of a SOLDIER. While that meant he wasn't loud and stumbling over everything in his path, he still wasn't as light on his feet as the rogue. He still moved at a good pace, hardly winded when they found a likely group of animals. He eyed them for a moment, selecting possible targets and jumped the last distance between them, the small switchblade sword in his hands. ]

[She took the moment he jumped into action to make sure that none of their targets escaped while they caught them all. Jumping down in front of a fleeing few, she cut their escape and sent them running back in his direction as she pulled out a throwing dagger and aimed it at another that was fleeing elsewhere.

It took but a moment, but with a bright glint in the air, the dagger flew effortlessly as it hit its mark.]

[He will let the yearlings and the nursing mother go, targeting the older bucks. Two clean slices with his sword and they fell with wide gashes on their neck. He wiped his blade free of gore and then looked up to see her kills.]

[She was currently ending the trashing of one of the large bucks who had stood protectively in the way of her and the rest. Good enough for her anyways, there was no point in killing the young or they would be running out of food sources... Well, in normal circumstances. In this place it was hard to know if things worked normally or not.

Besides the buck there was a female, smaller than the other but it was food and she didn't seem to be carrying. She looked over to Cloud and nodded, this should yield a good deal of nourishment for a good group.]

[ all that was left was cleaning up and then some field cleaning of the animals before taking them back to where they can be cut down to better portions. Cloud nodded to himself as he looked over their kill. There were a lot of meals that could be made from these. ]

Not bad... I think this will help, especially if we can make stews and pies out of this.

Aye! It'll certainly make lots 'a folks happy mon. I be tinkin' dis really was a nice outtin'

[Xue was used to hunting for just one, herself and her raptor youngling. It had been a long time since she had hunted for more than her and it was pleasant, especially with the company.]

Once we get em' outta here, I don't be mindin' doin' da skinnin' and cleanin' if ya wana go an' do da cuttin' and splittin'.

That sounds good.

[ He looked around and nodded to himself. He didn't feel like hauling the bodies on his shoulders so a couple tree branches woven together made a good stretcher for the bodies. ]

[Xue smiled and winked at him playfully before tying her own catch together and securing them on a heavy branch she slung over her shoulder. She seemed ready to set out.]

[ That got a small smile out of him as well as a shake of his head. He didn't know her too well but she seemed like a good person and a good hunter. His catch secure, he headed back the way they came. ]

[It helped that it had been a good hunt with good company and it in this place one should cherish good moments such as these. With a skip to her step, she followed Cloud to their destination, even whistling a mellow tune once in a while.]
