[Voice] On the right track for the wrong reasons

[For all she'd told Shion she was fine a few days ago, the cough had started later that afternoon and everything else had come out of nowhere and hit her like a giant Heartless. She was so tired it was a bit difficult to get out of bed, and everything just seemed to be getting colder - though it was hard to tell with how cold everything already was. Meanwhile, her whole body felt like it was aching.

The voice coming across the feed is a very special kind of miserable, maybe a little worried too. She doesn't usually post on the network but right now she doesn't have the energy to drag herself throughout the Tower looking for people she knows.]

Do we know if the Tower is doing s-s-something...? I... [she pauses to cough] feel really bad, and I don't get w-why. I've never felt like this before.

[Guess who's never been sick a day before in her ~~admittedly short~~ life? Not to mention it's a Jason month if the food is anything to go by and she's seen the occasional other person coughing and such too - and the whole "spread of disease" concept is totally lost on her.]

Axel picks up on her straight away and responds shortly after.]

Where are you?

[She'd sort of let her head list to the side a little while waiting for a reply. At the sound of Axel's voice she lifts it upright again.]

A-at the terminal nearest my room.

[He'll know where her room is, since he's been there, and there aren't too many terminals in the Tower anyway.]

[He might not be feeling the best himself right now either, especially with the weather as terrible as it is, but for Xion he can make a quick trek over.]

What're you doing out anyway? You should be staying inside.

I just [cough cough] Wanted to know what's going on. Why I'm feeling like this.

[And if it's Tower stuff, because if it's Tower stuff it's probably going to get worse before it gets better]

[Axel sighs.] Might be something from the weather.

[A beat,]

Go back inside.

[Xion frowns]

But I am inside...

[You might need to clarify a little Axel. Normally she'd get what you mean but right now her thinking's just a little fuzzy.]

[Gah.]

That's not what I mean.

[ The coughing tips him off. ]

There seems to be a nasty case of the flu running amok currently.

Probably helped by the cold weather we've been having.

[ All of his texts are typed slowly and carefully, due to the chill numbing his fingers and making them clumsy. ]

[She frowns a little at the text. Thankfully the slower typing ]

The flu? [Said with the air of someone who isn't familiar with the term] So... this isn't something the Tower's doing?

[She does know what being sick means generally speaking but she doesn't know any of the names of them.]

[ None of his texts are any quicker, so yep still slow typing. ]

It's an infectious disease, transmitted by contact with other people. [ i.e. sneezing and coughing on them... Okay, that's odd that she doesn't seem to know that the flu is. It's one of the most common illnesses. But it's not too abnormal. ] No, I don't think so; but of course, the fact that the administration allow temperatures to drop so low probably encouraged it.

[ Meaning, yes, this could be the Tower's doing but it's just as likely to be due to the cold environment and not being provided with the tools to cope with it well and prevent people from getting sick. ]

[Things seemed to be taking a bit longer to process, so the slower typing was easier to keep up with. What she's getting though, is... both worrying and not. So it wasn't the Tower's doing? But... ]

This is a disease? And... you can get sick more being really cold? [Maybe that's why she kept feeling worse. She was really cold right now. But with how cold the Tower was right now... this was really bad, wasn't it?]

[ Waiting out the pauses between responses isn't too irritating, so he can manage it easily enough. ]

Indeed. [ Hidetoshi wasn't an expert on health but he knew the basics of getting sick + being cold = not good at all. People could die from cold or exposure just like they could die from illnesses. ] The lowering of body temperate weakens your immune system and causes sickness to catch more easily, I think.

[Dammit.

Reno isn't doing too well himself lately. He feels that strange aura, like he knows he's about to get sick but there's not much he can do about that except try to nip it in the bud, which wasn't working.

But he's on the first dorm, and glances over to see the poor kid slumped over a terminal.]

Xion? Hey, kiddo? You all right?

[Xion lifts her head a little woozily and looks over in Reno's direction]

Reno? [She shakes her head at his question. It's a mark of how bad she feels that she doesn't even try to hide it] I don't feel that great.

[Frowning, Reno leaned down to check her.]

You been getting warm enough lately? Ya look sick. Like you got a fever.

[If her temperature is one of the things he checks, he will find that she is indeed running a fever. A fairly high one - not enough to be outright dangerous but definitely noticeable. For the rest of it, she looks very tired, worn, and uncomfortable.

She also takes a moment to cough a little before answering.]

Sick...? [But... was she sick? Was that what this was...? She'd never been sick before...] I'm trying but everything's just too cold.

[Frowning in concern, he considered for a moment before answering her.]

Hey, kiddo... you need to pack yourself off to bed. If that ain't happening, I'll help ya, but no more getting up, all right?

[And he's taking off his new heavy shirt and wrapping her up in it, trying to ignore the chill in the air.]

You got a cough or pain in your throat?

[Xion shook her head, closing out of the terminal and pushing herself slowly to her feet. She got this far, she could walk back, at least. Or try.]

A little coughing, but... my throat's fine.

[She leaned a little against the wall next to the terminal.]

Am I sick?

[Since... she hadn't really gotten a confirmation either way. Just instructions - which she was perfectly fine with following at this point, given that she still felt really tired.]

Yeah, kiddo, you are. Looks like a nasty case, too.

[He wasn't taking her assurances that she can when she leaned against the terminal. Instead, he just moved to pick her up and carry her back to bed.]

[She makes noises of surprise and slight protest when he picks her up, but if she feels too bad to really hide how bad she feels, she feels too bad to protest for very long at all. Instead, she lists against him, head drooping onto his shoulder. She's very light, and probably not too hard to carry at all.

Instead, she focuses on what he said, which for her was pretty worrying]

Am I gonna be okay?

[So far as she knew about being sick, sometimes you got better but you could die too, right? How had she even gotten sick?]

'Course you're gonna be okay, Sweetness. It's just a cold... you stay warm, drink stuff, you'll get better.

[His walk was pretty smooth, taking extra care not to jostle her and bringing her right into her own room.]

Don't worry now. It's not fun, but it's not gonna kill ya.

[On her bed now. He started piling all the clothing and blankets of hers he could find, tucking her in tight.]

I'm not too good at this stuff, Xion. I'll get ya some water and send Shion to check in.

[Well, Reno was putting words to... just about everything she both wanted to say and was worried about. Not fun, but she would be okay. She wouldn't die again. She nods wearily against his shoulder to let him know she heard him.

Her only response to being tucked in was to shiver and curl up in the blankets and clothing piled on top of her. It'd take a little time for the layers to warm up enough to really feel warm.

She still wants to make sure she says something though, before he goes to get that water.]

[She thinks you're a pretty okay job...]

[The feed starts with a very irritated Yordle on screen. He flexes a gauntleted hand before raising it high above himself as it gathered dark energies around it. In a matter of moments the gathered dark energies seemed to coalesce into a concentrated dark sphere which seemed to start consuming anything in the floor which got near it.

His eyes flash on screen and he scoffs.]

I don't know what this Wretched Tower is doing, but this better end fast! I forgot how bad illness can be for spellcasters at time and I dislike not being able to use my powers!

[Of course once he lowers his hand, the concentrated black hole dissipates, leaving behind noticeable destruction in it's wake. Although he seems to not even notice, maybe too involved in his grumbling.]

[Xion frowned a little at the video. Whether the intent of the display was to impress or intimidate or just inform... she was honestly too out of it for it to make much of an impression.

Indeed, her voice when she does reply sounds... still tired, more than anything.]

But... if you can't use magic... what was that?

That's the point! I can't use magic, didn't you see I was trying and nothing happened?! I keep seeing these damn colorful orbs that feel like they might be it but...

They're cheats and I can't catch them...

Call it an epidemic.

[He sighs, muffling a cough.]

If you're not feeling good, then you've probably caught the same bug everyone else is getting.

[A beat.]

That sweater of yours might come in handy at a time like this. And any blankets you've got.

As others said, it's likely an illness from the cold. Keep warm, and stay in bed.

*He says as he goes into a coughing fit of his own.*

[Shion, once he heard about her sickness from Reno came up to her room with more blankets and some supplies from the clinic. A drop in clinic was all fine and good but when he came up with it Shion hadn't been expecting a epidemic of illness...

He's never seen an epidemic of illness, he knew in places like the west town such a thing could spread like wild fire and kill but in No. 6 everything was controlled, people rarely got sick.] Hey Xion [He keeps his voice cheerful] Reno said you were sick.

[Sora doesn't check the network very often anymore, but he does see this while wandering around. The voice that comes out sounds about as miserable as Xion's, even though he's trying to laugh it off.]

I think there's just some kind of bug going around. I managed to get it, too!

[He pauses to cough after that, as if proving his point.]
