What is strength to you, or what it is to be strong?

Alternatively, who is it that has right to rulership, or to command? Do you agree with the sentiment that those who are strong are superior and thus have greater rights than those who are weak?

And if that is the case: may the weak become strong?

To me, being strong means I can help the people and things I care about any way I can without hurting others in the process.

As for who should rule..maybe the strong should help the weak get stronger as well and stand on equal ground!

People have different strengths and weaknesses. I think a person is truly strong when they use their strengths in ways that can overcome their weaknesses. That is my opinion though.

As for who should rule..ideally, people should live equally, not lording over or commanding others.

Is it truly strength if you are taught it?

To provide someone help at first is acceptable. But they must come to learn they are alone on all other things, in the end.

Strength is refusing to die until you choose to. Survival.

Rulership is to those who have the perseverance to handle dealing with idiots.

And the weak can become strong if they actually desire it hard enough.

That's a practical way of viewing it.

This too would be ideal. However in the end people will inherently flock to someone to lead them. Who is the better leader: one who provides an example in their strength, or one who rules because that is all that he does?

All of these I agree with.

In the end, however, it is rare that rulers are chosen, by their own accord or by the accord of others.

There's the people who can dominate you physically who are 'strong', and there's the people who won't break if you put them in a place like here who are 'strong'. They're both decent definitions.

People who talk about rights to rulership are asking for a long argument that never goes anywhere. I'm not saying there shouldn't be a ruler or people on top, just that no matter how you pick who's in charge, the people who aren't are going to have some problems with them.

I suppose so.

If everyone is truly on equal ground, they will not have to look to someone to lead them. However..a better leader would be one who helped and provided an example.

A sad truth. In my experience, most rulers have been forced to learn these qualities, or...

They've been eradicated. Someone always steps up to face their injustice through fury or anger, and topples the pyramid to rebuild and continue surviving.

I can't say the system is ineffective, in light of that. But mine may be luckier than most worlds, I suppose.

Strength is living, no matter the cost. No matter who dies. No matter what you have to do to do it.

Sure! I don't see why the strength would change just because you had to learn and work towards it.

And people aren't all alone! Even if they think they are, they always have someone around.

They are. But would you say one is preferable to the other?

Ideally, there would be no ruler. In the end all would know where they stand among others. But it is the way of people, and of all creatures to have one to lead them. And thus we must decide what traits are most desirable to look for.

Why do you believe that?

And that is all?

Strength can be taught, but it must be taught alone. If it is taught through another, it is not your strength.

To rely on others is foolishness, even if it is only temporary reliance.

The latter. The first can be taken away from you too easy.

You'd want people with empathy for other people but who can't easily be pushed around by those who know less than them.

Because I've seen people grow. There's no reason to ask if it's possible if you've seen it.

Even if they were on equally ground, none would believe they were on equal ground. They would work to see which was still greater, and flock to those who were greater than themselves.

To provide an example is acceptable. Help, to show they might be relied on, weakens people.

Why not? If you can continue to be strong after someone else has taught you and helped you, why is that strength not yours?

..And constantly relying on people is rather silly..but if you can depend upon them when you really need them, then there's nothing wrong with that.

It is the way things are.

Rulership is a concept that goes beyond ethereal in what it is. To rule and have power as a ruler is something rarely given or earned. It is something that falls to you with little explanation. And can be so easily taken away.

Funny that injustice is a concept so many rail against. Not that I say it is wrong; but in the end it is often those who rail against one injustice, take over, and become the unjust themselves.

For certain ones, that is all they have.

Because it is based on something that is not yourself. True strength only lies within oneself.

And when you find yourself in a situation where none can be relied upon, what then?

Then I would think death a blessing for those, since they aren't alive to begin with.

Strength is an important part of life, but it is not life itself.

Empathy is worthless. What is needed is not concern for others or an understanding of them. No need for that which merely coddles.

People can grow, but it seems to me they must grow alone. Alone chafe grows in droves. The worthwhile grows alone.

And if they spit in the eye of those who say they are better off dead by killing them to live?

But if people can help show you the strength that does lie in you and help you use it, then there's nothing wrong with that. It's still your own strength. A writer is helped by editors and other things, but the book they write is still their own!

...And what sort of situation would that be?

Sadly, it is true that people would still hold that believe. However, if they could bee reassured that they are equal when that comes up, then that problem might be avoided.

And it only hurts people if they overly rely on others.
