anon text;

A question, tower residents.

If a person does not have a soul, would you still consider them a person? Are they different from people who do have souls? What makes them different from others?

( ooc: Mami will reply as anon, of course. )

[... She had avoided talking about it for so long, not wanting to relive all the pain and uncomfortable numbness that came with finding out her true origins. But... maybe talking about it will help whoever this is. If it's for someone else, she can try to forget her pain for a little bit.]

Sort of. I found out I wasn't really who I thought I was - I was just a string of corrupted data that wasn't even supposed to exist. A copy. Whatever you want to call it.

Because of that, I didn't think I was human. Or a real person. Or... anything, really. I questioned myself a lot about why I even existed. But the people I'd grown close to during my time back in my world managed to snap me out of it.

So I guess for me it's more a case of not having a real body than a soul, but I can understand the pain of not thinking you're human.

I really hope so.

Depending on the circumstances, I could say it might very well be possible.

I admit it would be troubling..

Well, the idea of a soul being separated from a body isn't something a lot of people really thing about, I guess. So your question could get a lot of people thinking. I think that's important.

So, what about it is important to you, then?

You mean if they're already soulless, right?

As far as I am aware, a person is their soul. The person "without a soul" would still be a person, but simply somewhere other than their body.

In my experience, it's been more trouble than it's worth.

Which is not to go into inane goth subculture or something whining about pain in your soul or something, but it hasn't exactly worked out for me.

I've never encountered a living person without a soul. As far as I've ever seen, to have one's soul removed would kill the victim. Is that not the case where you're from?

Must not be that important, if you're gonna let something like that stop you from trying.

Depends on what it is, you know. For example, a prayer for hope will lead to the spread of an equal amount of despair. The two combine to reach equilibrium and comes zero. That's how the world holds its balance.

I think it is important too.

May I ask, are you or one of your friend lacking such a soul?
