A question, tower residents.
If a person does not have a soul, would you still consider them a person? Are they different from people who do have souls? What makes them different from others?
( ooc: Mami will reply as anon, of course. )

Before I can answer, may I ask, what it is you mean by "soul"?

I guess what I mean by soul is...
It's hard to explain. I guess the spiritual part of a human being, as well as their emotional and moral nature?

I just don't want them to lose their sense of morality
and turn into monsters.

if they look and act and think the same
and they remember the same things
and they feel the same way
then yes, they're the same
just the thing called a soul isn't the sum of a person

I can't claim to be an expert on soul removal, but I would question if it is actually possible to fully sever someone's soul from their body. I would think that even if you have some physical proof of its removal, that doesn't mean that it's still not linked to you and functioning just as a soul otherwise would. In which case, does it really matter if it has been removed or not? It is still with you and functioning even if not connected to you in the same way as it originally was.
That you worry enough to ask such a question seems to be proof of that to me, anyway.

I guess there's that.
My soul is technically still with me.
But there are other people who share my fate.
And they'll turn into monsters if they lose all sense of humanity.
I don't want to lose them.

My soul is all messed up, but I'm still the same person I was before that happened. I think the same applies if you lost your soul somewhere along the way.

When you lose yourself?

Or if they just... Didn't have a soul at all.
Are they still a person?
What makes them not a person if they're not?

Though some people might think differently.
What makes a person a person and not just a shell, then?

Who cares? It's not like it changes anything. There's no point in worrying about something like that.

How would a person stop worrying?
Do they distract themselves from the truth?

But still. I don't think a soul is all of what makes a person a person.

[At least, that's what she understands happens... they never really did test what happens if you move a Soul Gem more than 100 meters away.
Oh wait, no, that happened to Rosa when the body switching thing went on.]

I'm just speaking in general, like if you knew they lacked a soul.
Would you think of them as a person or just a lifeless shell?
