um... i'm sorry if this is rude, but isn't it a little silly to be angry about asking questions of each other? it's the best way to share information that might be important about our experiences here, and to learn about each other, isn't it?

i think it's fine if you don't want to answer any questions about yourself, but i want to know everyone better, too... and, um, you won't ever know if you don't ask, right?

Who's angry? I just think it's pointless.

I think the problem is that certain informations are best to be handled privately, rather than being asked in public spaces where everyone can see them.

But I also think people are overreacting a little.

Well, I think a few people are? It sounds that way. I just... it doesn't seem right that some people should snap about what other people post here.

maybe anyone with a question like that could put something up on paper where everyone can see it. like, um-- [Oh gosh, what was that archaic term?] --a bulletin board? and people can answer without signing their name.

I think so, too. I'm sure there's a good way to ask questions people might not want to answer to just anyone. That way, people can feel free to ask what they want.

I said this to someone else, but maybe we could put up a-- bulletin board, I think it was called? And people can post things anonymously, so no one will know who answered what way, or who asked in the first place. The network doesn't always work right, so it might be more reliable that way!

why did this need its own post? there are about a dozen other places where you could have said this.

Maybe a little... I think a lot of the people asking haven't been here long enough to know that, though.

It would be easier if we could record these things for access anytime, like in the library. But I think the library took out a lot of things, too...

It isn't difficult to look back on the network. It isn't as if posts have anywhere to go except perhaps further in the archives.

Nobody should be made to feel like a nuisance for asking questions. It is the best way to learn, and discouraging it only leads to ignorance.

However, for efficiency's sake, I believe the most frequently asked questions should have their answers compiled into some sort of book we can distribute to the new arrivals.

Now that would have been a better idea. But considering that it's been done, I think it's too late to do damage control, unless nobody responded to that survey.

I feel sort of bad for anyone who gets annoyed by being asked questions all the time, but I think there is a good reason for it, too...

i don't really understand how it's damaging, except that people got annoyed at it... and, well, answers change as people come and go, don't they?

I don't know. Somewhere where there's a lot of wall space, where people go often, but that isn't near the terminals so nobody feels like it's too public.

I think it would be even better to compile a lot of the questions people ask, so it would help with people having to answer the same things all the time. But it's not as easy as just sharing data now...

i think so, too. but i don't want anyone to make anyone else angry, or get everyone annoyed at them for not knowing.

i was thinking that would be a good idea, too! but maybe only with basic things new people wouldn't know right away, so they can ask others about the rest and get to know them a little, too. i don't want to take that away from anybody. it was what i did, and it helped me a lot.

The questions people ask tend to be the same. It's really more of a 'see if there isn't an answer already before you ask' situation.

I never thought of it that way. Maybe the most important thing to give newcomers on arrival is just a basic safety manual so they are not immediately eaten.

We'd probably have to do a survey to find out where to put something like that though, wouldn't we?

And that'd be great too, so we don't have to ask the same question more than once!

Because it lets out something that should be kept secret to uninvolved parties. There aren't only good hearted people here, and they would use that information to their advantage. I think that's why people got nervous.

I'm sorry, I didn't realize putting this where it actually belongs would keep you from talking to other people.
