um... i'm sorry if this is rude, but isn't it a little silly to be angry about asking questions of each other? it's the best way to share information that might be important about our experiences here, and to learn about each other, isn't it?

i think it's fine if you don't want to answer any questions about yourself, but i want to know everyone better, too... and, um, you won't ever know if you don't ask, right?

Who's angry? I just think it's pointless.

It can be when they've all been asked before. Though perhaps not 'bad' so much as 'irritating'.

It isn't difficult to look back on the network. It isn't as if posts have anywhere to go except perhaps further in the archives.

The questions people ask tend to be the same. It's really more of a 'see if there isn't an answer already before you ask' situation.
idolizer: (what have you done?)

[personal profile] idolizer 2013-02-07 10:40 pm (UTC)(link)
I think the problem is that certain informations are best to be handled privately, rather than being asked in public spaces where everyone can see them.

But I also think people are overreacting a little.
idolizer: (cut myself and scream for their insanity)

[personal profile] idolizer 2013-02-09 12:53 am (UTC)(link)
Now that would have been a better idea. But considering that it's been done, I think it's too late to do damage control, unless nobody responded to that survey.
idolizer: (to get through the daze)

Because it lets out something that should be kept secret to uninvolved parties. There aren't only good hearted people here, and they would use that information to their advantage. I think that's why people got nervous.

Well, it's better to ask then to not ask at all, right? [ There's a slight pause after that, though. ] But I do think that it's sometimes better to ask in private...

A bulletin board would be kind of neat! [ Though all of the trolls would probably show up that way, considering that it's all anonymous.. ] Though where would we put it?

We'd probably have to do a survey to find out where to put something like that though, wouldn't we?

And that'd be great too, so we don't have to ask the same question more than once!

why did this need its own post? there are about a dozen other places where you could have said this.

what part of "stop" is so difficult for you morons to understand??

like any of the posts saying the opposite of what you're saying? if you want to argue your point, go do it with someone who ACTUALLY CARES.

I'm sorry, I didn't realize putting this where it actually belongs would keep you from talking to other people.

BECAUSE STUPIDITY IS CONTAGIOUS, OBVIOUSLY.
IT BLOCKS OUT THE RECEPTORS IN THE THINKPAN THAT ARE RESPONSIBLE FOR BEING ABLE TO COMPREHEND SIMPLE THINGS
LIKE THE WORD "STOP."
THE NEXT PART OF THE DISEASE TARGETS THE AREA THAT DEALS WITH SELF CONTROL AS WELL AS COMMON SENSE.
THEY ESSENTIALLY GET ERASED AS IT PROGRESSES.

...did you seriously just say "thinkpan"?

[Sorry he is not familiar with troll dialect, so that's the main thing he got out of that.]

glad to be of service.

Nobody should be made to feel like a nuisance for asking questions. It is the best way to learn, and discouraging it only leads to ignorance.

However, for efficiency's sake, I believe the most frequently asked questions should have their answers compiled into some sort of book we can distribute to the new arrivals.
forgetbeam: (Pounding like a drum)

[personal profile] forgetbeam 2013-02-10 05:17 pm (UTC)(link)
Asking others things as a way of getting to know people? Is that really effective?

[No way... While he wasn't shy of asking other people things back home, he preferred to see if he could locate the answer in a book or otherwise figure it out on his own first. HE MISSED OUT...]

I never thought of it that way. Maybe the most important thing to give newcomers on arrival is just a basic safety manual so they are not immediately eaten.
