Sorry to bother everyone, but I have a quick question I hope someone who know more about the topic could help me with.

[Madoka takes a deep breath]

My name is Madoka Kanami and I'm a magical girl, just like a few other people who are already here. But, unlike them, I don't have a soul gem and became a magical girl in a  very different way from what others I've talked to went through in order to become magical girls.

Since we're so different no one I've talked to seems to know a way to prevent me from eventually turning into something horrible. If anyone knows a way I can prevent that from happening, even just for a little while, I'd very much appreciate if you could tell me. Even if it's just a guess, it would really help.

If you need to know anything about this, please just ask. I'll do anything I can to help.

I know that hurting witches slowed the process down and made the voice in my head happy for awhile.

But there aren't any witches here, so I'm not sure what to do.

[By now Madoka had been through the motions of hearing she was the only magical girl of her kind in the tower. Though it was lonely being one-of-a-kind, the knowledge that in another place her friends weren't subjected to such awful treatment made her feel a bit better about things.]

Could you tell me a bit about how soul gems work? Everyone keeps mentioning them but I'm not sure I understand what they are just yet.

Yeah, I can do that. Just interrupt me if I'm not making something clear. ..I've learned most of it by trial and error.

_{[Sayaka can be heard shuffling around briefly, before the terminal's video feed begins rolling. What can be seen is Sayaka Miki, in a copy of the Mitakihara school uniform that's almost had all of the color leeched out of it by extended wear, holding a partially luminescent blue gem in the palm of her hand. She starts speaking, in a tone that makes it clear that she's trying to divorce the subject as far from her emotions as possible.]}

This is a Soul Gem. It's exactly what the name makes it sound like. They're meant to be brighter than this, but mine's just stupid, so I deal with it. What happens is - you made a wish to become a magical girl, right? Well, how it worked was I made a wish, and Kyuubey stretches out his ears all like this... _{[Sayaka makes an odd arching gesture with her free hand, grabbing at empty air.]} ..and he takes it out. And that's you. I mean, you, as in don't drop it or your body drops dead.

[Madoka stares at the gem in silent awe, she had been told a decent amount about the soul gems and all that went along with them, bt seeing it for herself finally put all of it into context. Despite all the differences between her world and the one most of the tower's magical girls hailed from, the process of becoming a magical girl was still one steeped in horror and tragedy.]
