[ A pause. He's been scarce lately. But with how deadpan his voice is, one thing that always gives him away is the soft music playing in the background. Opera. Specifically, Richard Wagner. And today's choice is oddly appropriate. ]

It appears to be a running theme all throughout history: No good deed going unpunished. No hero that, in time, is denied martyrdom. I often wonder why this one lesson is routinely ignored. But, now, perhaps, I see why. Human nature requires inspiration before it begins to to act upon its desires.

Perhaps now this performance will enter its final act.

[Raphael understood that sometimes, people didn't know things that were important because those things were hidden or others weren't able to tell them, but for something important like this not to be told, something that could affect the universe..it was odd.]

I see..perhaps he is hiding them from you then. Or he needs some.

[ Wilhelm leans forward a bit. ] Either way, they are irrelevant, and it is a moot point.

..And if that is a moot point, then what is not? Loneliness is painful, not just for humans, but all beings, I think.

Because it does not matter. So long as U-DO poses a threat to the universe, and to humanity, I will resist it in any way I can.

[The problem with Raphael sometimes was that he wasn't stupid, or that he couldn't deal with things different to him..but that it took him some time to work things through and understand them. While he knew about multiple universes..he usually thought about things from his own viewpoint first, even though he was trying to get better at that.

..But a universe where God was a problem..that was utterly alien to him, a foreign concept.]

..I am not sure if it is a good thing that you are opposed to God..but it is good that you are protecting humanity.

I exist to protect humanity from all threats, including itself. I do not have the luxury of considering whether or not it is 'good,' only what will work or will not work to preserve the Lower Domain.

[..While Raphael looked calm, he still wasn't quite sure what to make of Wilhelm. It felt like he was acting out the part of an Angel..but that was just it, acting.]

..I see. And how is humanity harming itself?

By refusing to return to the collective subconscious upon their deaths, the become Gnosis. This destabilizes the balance between the Upper and Lower Domains, which will lead to the destruction of the Lower Domain to protect the Upper Domain.

I cannot allow this.

I see..I do not know what Gnosis are, but I have met many humans who were sad to see others move on, or people who were afraid to move on, even if they had to.

However..how do you help this problem?

By the name, I would assume that it's a process that allows you to eternally repeat..and based on what you have told me..it allows you to eternally repeat the past. But that means that humanity cannot ever improve.

Perhaps they cannot improve because they do not know that they are harming the universe.

Not all of them are. Some might do as you suggest..but at least one might believe you and help the others right themselves.
