Forgive me, I cannot make out what I am supposed to be looking at. Is that....a bird within a cage?

Yup! That's Beato, she's like our caged bird, so that's how I drew her.

Why would you cage a bird? Birds are beasts of the wing and should be allowed to fly freely.

Exactly. But this 'bird' is going to have her wings clipped and be our pet songbird.

Clipped? But, is not that a cruel gesture in itself? Birds should be allowed to fly freely and keep their wings.

Yup, exactly the point. But you know, on the other hand, it's merciful, right? Normally when a cat catches a bird, she devours it, at least it's being kept alive and doted on, even if it's caged, right~?

I still do not understand the reasoning behind clipping a bird's wings. It seems cruel to me.
