[Because this all seemed too girly for Thorin.]

Yup, you
do
know what that is, right? If you need stuff to draw with, I can help you.

I am not stupid.
[He gave her a warning glance.]
Why would I seek to do such a thing?

Because it's fun, obviously. Stress relief and all that.

Alright, well, you just draw something you like!
[She sticks out her tongue as she draws and a moment later holds her paper up to the screen.]
Like this! It's me and Bern with Beatrice.

[Just what? He will not be staring and trying to depict the animals out.]
Forgive me, I cannot make out what I am supposed to be looking at. Is that....a bird within a cage?

Yup! That's Beato, she's like our caged bird, so that's how I drew her.

Why would you cage a bird? Birds are beasts of the wing and should be allowed to fly freely.

Exactly. But this 'bird' is going to have her wings clipped and be our pet songbird.

Clipped? But, is not that a cruel gesture in itself? Birds should be allowed to fly freely and keep their wings.

Yup, exactly the point. But you know, on the other hand, it's merciful, right? Normally when a cat catches a bird, she devours it, at least it's being kept alive and doted on, even if it's caged, right~?

I still do not understand the reasoning behind clipping a bird's wings. It seems cruel to me.
