Uhmm.... this may sound really awkward and out of the blue but Darr-- my husband's birthday is in October and uh, does anyone know how to make a cake?

Like a legit cake, not the kind you get out of a box and it has to taste... well good?

I don't want to give him food poisoning and I really want to give him something for his birthday, even if it'sa little bit in this hell hole....

[ With that Ishtar's face flusters a bit before she cuts the feed. ]

[He blinks, then suddenly turns very red, looking to the side as a poor attempt to hide his embarrassment.]

[Awkward head scratching, yes.]

[ Ishtar just giggled a little bit at his expression. He's such a cute kid already. ]

Sorry, did I embarrass you? It wasn't my intention.

[He awkwardly shift, before quickly shaking his head--even though she's right there and could see the redness on his face.]

No, I wasn't... embarrassed.

[ Ishtar found him quite adorable for his expressions, really. At least she doesn't comment on his redness. ]

[Puffs up a small bit, the hint of a pout resting on his face. CHANGE OF SUBJECT.]

S-so... how long have you been here?

[ Ishtar just giggled a bit. ]

Not counting my imprisonment in an experimental facility, maybe over a year now? It's been four years since I've seen my world, or over four years. I don't know anymore. I'm not getting any younger.

[He blinks into the camera at the mentioning of imprisonment.]

I see.

... I'm really sorry.

[He averts his eyes, scratching the side of his face.]

[ Ishtar gives him a small smile for that. ]

It's okay. It's not your fault so you don't have to apologize for them.

[ her tone was a little sad but she still kept her smile. ]

[Well, it's not like he lies about being fine, all the time, or anything...

Ishtar, you can't lie to him.]

If you... say so. [Returning her woooords... And. Giving her a knowing frown, before sighing and looking to the side. You can't play his game, without him giving you the LOOK. He is a pro at saying "it's fine" or "I'm fine" or "don't worry about it".]

I know it's not my fault, but... Let's just say I can sympathize with one of those. [He offers her a smile, in spite of it being fairly sad as well.]

[ Ishtar pretends like she can though. She wouldn't admit it even if he told her to. She'd avoid the subject. She's good at that. ]

Yeap, definitely saying so. I'm fine honest. I could be better but you know in a place like this, you never get any better than fine.

[ She frowned knowing that he sort of tossed that back at her but it's fine. She knows she's not exactly the best person on lying. ]

[ She smiled softly at him. ]

[He props his head on a hand and looks away from the camera a moment, before smiling a moment. He's had plenty of time to think, lately.]

Yeah, well... I just figure there's no point letting ourselves be lonely in a place like this, you know? We're all suffering, one way or another. So... no problem. Really.

We all need to stick together. [Looks back to the camera with a serious expression.]

All we have is each other, and there's no telling how long...

[How long even that will last. Sooner, or later, another person will disappear. They'll never know which one it could be, either. It's a depressing thought, but he's somehow finding it possible to accept, now. Time to move forward right?

... Irony...]

I know what you mean, but at the same time you don't know when people are gonna disappear on you. I'm always worried about that.

[ She replies looking down. She's lost many people so she's not quite sure what to do anymore. She's holding on but Ganta is right, she's not okay. She hasn't been okay in months. ]

Yeah for all we have now, I think that's for the best.

[ she nods her head. She knows where he's going with this and she doesn't like it but it's true. It is the truth and she can't deny it. ]

Yeah, I worry, too. But, worrying all the time will only make things harder. Sometimes, we just have to smile and move forward.

[He offers her a genuine smile, for a moment--he actually looks like a typical fourteen-year-old. Then, he seems to remember that he doesn't normally smile like that, and looks down, expression dropping a bit. When he looks back to her, his expression is back to being more neutral.]

A-anyway, uh... I think I'm gonna head to the cafeteria to eat. I'll see you around, Ishtar-san?

Yeah, I guess so andI know you're right.

[ she returned his smile just for that. Ishtar looked at him concerned when his smile dropped. ]

Alright, make sure to eat the oatmeal first if you haven't already? Also, if you want I can try to make it taste better. Sure, definitely Ganta. Take care sweetie.

[The concerned expression causes his own to falter, and he allows an apologetic smile to appear. It's soft, and it's obvious he's trying very hard to keep her from worrying.]

Thank you. It's fine though, I ate it the first day! I heard about people getting sick from not doing it, so...

I really appreciate your kindness, though. You take care, as well. [He flashes her a slightly more friendly smile before offering her a wave.]

Oh that's good that you did. Yeah people do and I learned the hard way, so I'm glad. If you really want something else, I can try to make it but I'm not the best cook out there.
