animus_network | Video; Mourn the Past, Strengthen the Present

Last month, I posted to the Network asking for those who would be willing teach others how to fight--both with and without powers--to contact me. Many of you were willing to share your talents with those who needed them, and I thank you very much for that.

[Diarmuid smiles and bows his head for a moment before continuing.]

However, aside from a few people who I have already helped find teachers, I haven't really heard from anyone who would like to take advantage of the skills that have been offered. I understand that many of you have probably already found teachers amongst those who you know. For those who still might be looking, I thought that I would post a list of those who offered their services so you can take advantage of them should you ever wish to.

I will warn you, though, that most of these people are battle-hardened warriors and do not pull their punches. If you take them up on their offers, please be prepared to work your hardest. They will expect no less and those who you are fighting for deserve no less.

Here is the list. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me. Since I know most of the people on the list, if you are unsure who you should contact, I will be glad to direct you to a teacher.

Teacher List:

Diarmuid Ua Duibhne: Teaches armed and unarmed combat. Spear and sword focused. Duel-wield specialty. Can teach all levels of fighters.
Mayu: Armed Combat. Axe focus.
Cerberus: Teaches armed and unarmed combat. Knowledgeable with almost all weapons. Specialty in modern weapons.
Saber of White: Teaches armed and unarmed combat. Sword specialty.
Aleph: Teaches armed combat. Knows melee weapons. Sword specialty.
Sir Lancelot du Lac: Teaches armed and unarmed combat. Specialty in non-traditional weapons.
Ken Amada: Teaches armed combat. Specialty in spears and improvising weapons.
Enoch: Skilled in the use of slings. Also skilled in making them.

If anyone would like to be added to the list, please feel free to let me know. Also, let me know if you would like the information listed by your names altered in anyway or wish to be removed from the list. This list isn't a static thing by any means.

On a sadder note, for any of you who knew Mami Tomoe, it has come to my attention that she has been sent home. I know she was close to many people. She left me a cookie recipe and since Riki has given us such a good selection of food this month, I can think of no better way to honor her memory than to bake some of the sweets she made so well. Anyone who would like to join me is welcome, though, I cannot guarantee my cookies will be anywhere near as good as the ones she made. I--

Anyone with half a brain would want that, but if they are causing you that many problems, I question if they even have that.

I've seen you fight. I would be a fool not to respect that amount of skill, and besides that you are very wise even if you aren't that old.

I don't think I can see it, but people who think they're wise are probably fools anyway.

We are our own worst enemies. My friends say things like that about me a lot and I don't usually see it either.

[Diarmuid winks at Aleph.]

But I have learned it is better not to argue with them. It leads nowhere good.

Isn't that a little bit of wisdom?

[A chuckle.] I guess there's no point disputing it.

[Diarmuid shakes his head.]

A little wisdom hardly means I'm infallible and some people seem to think that is exactly what it means. I don't like feeling like I failed them when I inevitably can't live up to that.

...It's hard when they expect that. But it doesn't change that you're doing the best you can...

It's hard when they expect it and even harder when I expect it.

[Diarmuid laughs, embarrassed.]

It's something I am still working on. Someday I will listen to my own advice and stop expecting so much more from myself than humanly possible. Someday.

That seems to be my issue as well. The oven and I do not get alone well...

If you need something roasted on an open fire... Or recommendations between different types of alcohol, I can do that. I have been to a lot of bars.

They might take away my right to call myself an Irishman if I didn't know my way around alcohol, but I have to admit when it comes to more modern types of alcohol, I don't know much about it. Much like with my cooking, my specialty lies with older types.

If you ever do come to my world or there is a particularly large and particularly modern selection here, I can provide my authoritative opinion. There's wine in Makai that will knock you out like a light if you're not careful.

Color me interested. Is it still so dangerous for one who is used to strong drink and isn't exactly human?

Considering that the best alcohol in Makai comes direct from the god of wine? I wouldn't be surprised if it could take you down.

[Diarmuid raises an impressed eyebrow.]

Does it now? Then I definitely would like to try it given the chance. Nothing I have found here has done a thing for me between my tolerance and my status as a servant.

Then it's settled. If I get any from home, I'll be sure it share it - if not, you'll have to visit later.

Deal! And then you can laugh as it knocks me out. Just do me a favor and don't draw too much on my face, okay?

How immature do you think I am? I promise I won't do anything like that.

Why do I get the feeling I should ask what you will do? Or am I just being paranoid because of my brother and what he would do?

Perhaps both. I have a while to plan for this happening, after all.
