Video; Mourn the Past, Strengthen the Present

Last month, I posted to the Network asking for those who would be willing teach others how to fight--both with and without powers--to contact me. Many of you were willing to share your talents with those who needed them, and I thank you very much for that.

[Diarmuid smiles and bows his head for a moment before continuing.]

However, aside from a few people who I have already helped find teachers, I haven't really heard from anyone who would like to take advantage of the skills that have been offered. I understand that many of you have probably already found teachers amongst those who you know. For those who still might be looking, I thought that I would post a list of those who offered their services so you can take advantage of them should you ever wish to.

I will warn you, though, that most of these people are battle-hardened warriors and do not pull their punches. If you take them up on their offers, please be prepared to work your hardest. They will expect no less and those who you are fighting for deserve no less.

Here is the list. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me. Since I know most of the people on the list, if you are unsure who you should contact, I will be glad to direct you to a teacher.

Teacher List:

Diarmuid Ua Duibhne: Teaches armed and unarmed combat. Spear and sword focused. Duel-wield specialty. Can teach all levels of fighters.
Mayu: Armed Combat. Axe focus.
Cerberus: Teaches armed and unarmed combat. Knowledgeable with almost all weapons. Specialty in modern weapons.
Saber of White: Teaches armed and unarmed combat. Sword specialty.
Aleph: Teaches armed combat.  Knows melee weapons.  Sword specialty.
Sir Lancelot du Lac: Teaches armed and unarmed combat. Specialty in non-traditional weapons.
Ken Amada:  Teaches armed combat.  Specialty in spears and improvising weapons.
Enoch: Skilled in the use of slings. Also skilled in making them.

If anyone would like to be added to the list, please feel free to let me know. Also, let me know if you would like the information listed by your names altered in anyway or wish to be removed from the list.  This list isn't a static thing by any means.

On a sadder note, for any of you who knew Mami Tomoe, it has come to my attention that she has been sent home. I know she was close to many people. She left me a cookie recipe and since Riki has given us such a good selection of food this month, I can think of no better way to honor her memory than to bake some of the sweets she made so well. Anyone who would like to join me is welcome, though, I cannot guarantee my cookies will be anywhere near as good as the ones she made.  I--

[For a moment it seems like Diarmuid will continue, but after a few seconds, he just shakes his head and ends the feed.]

Wait, I would assume. Knowing our luck we'll turn around for ten seconds and start a fire.

You're probably right. Though, just waiting is boring.

[He might be whining, just a little.]

I suppose I should start cleaning up this mess and hope I don't make it any worse in the process...

Not that I don't appreciate the offer, but...

[Diarmuid pauses in his work to look back over his shoulder at the oven.]

Do you think it's wise for us both to stop watching it?

[fionnuisce]

We'll just check on it every couple of minutes. It...should be fine, probably.

[oathshackledbird]

I hope so. I would hate to lose our hard work so close to being done.

[Diarmuid turns back to the counter and then sighs and shakes his head.]

How did I make such a mess? There is flour everywhere...

[fionnuisce]

I don't suppose a low Luck ranking applies to this, does it?

[oathshackledbird]

[Diarmuid laughs and then leans back from the counter as he manages to kick up a small flour cloud.]

What makes you think it wouldn't apply to something like this?

[fionnuisce]

[Waver laughed softly, calling up Volumen Hydragyrum and sending the maid off to go find a broom of some kind.]

You're just terribly unfortunate sometimes, my friend.

Only sometimes. I'm pretty lucky when it counts.

[Diarmuid reaches out to brush his fingers over Waver's cheek gently.]

That makes it all right in the end.

...If things even out like that, I think that would make it difficult to complain.

Exactly, which is why I am not.

[Diarmuid nods toward the oven.]

Want to check on those? I promise not to destroy the whole kitchen while your back is turned on me.

[Waver turned around, leaning over to make sure nothing was burning or on fire--so far, everything seemed to be in order on that front. He couldn't really say whether or not they looked like they were prepared right, but he assumed time would tell on that.]

[Diarmuid's words are cut off by a loud clatter. It's very obvious something has just been knocked off the cabinets.]

I didn't break anything! I swear!

[fionnuisce]

[Waver glanced over his shoulder, making an effort not to laugh.]

Are you alright?

[oathshackledbird]

Define 'all right.'

[Diarmuid's voice is small and embarrassed.]

Does having my pride shattered to splinters count as all right?

[fionnuisce]

What happened this time?

[oathshackledbird]

Nothing! Nothing at all!

[The answer is quick, insistent, and then followed up by a few soft whispers.]

Maybe I can convince people flour is a fashion statement? And vanilla smells good enough...

[fionnuisce]

What on earth's wrong now?

[Waver turned around, frowning slightly as he did.]

[Diarmuid finally turns toward Waver. He's almost covered from head to toe in flour and in several places the flour is obviously wet.]

The vanilla bottle slipped and when I tried to catch it, it spilled all over me and my hand caught the bag of flour knocking it and the mixing bowl off the counter.

[Yeah, they better not burn that batch of cookies because the left over batter is now all over the floor...]

[fionnuisce]

[Waver quickly stifled a laugh behind his hand; fortunately, it was right about then that Volumen Hydragyrum came back with all manner of cleaning supplies. Fitting, considering she was still in the shape of a maid.]

I'm sorry. I'm not laughing, honestly.

[oathshackledbird]

[Diarmuid sighs and tries to dust himself off, quickly stopping when he realizes he's only succeeding in making things worse.]

Go ahead and laugh. I won't hold it against you, but I think I will be leaving the rest of the cleaning to her.

[fionnuisce]

I'll let her deal with the worst of it. Hold still. [While his Mystic Code was set to the rather mundane task of cleaning a kitchen, Waver himself brushed the worst of it off Diarmuid himself.]

[oathshackledbird]

[Diarmuid doesn't argue Waver's decision. He really has no right considering how badly things have gone for him so far, but as his friend brushes him off, his face grows steadily redder.]

Waver...you're getting flour in your hair...and on your clothes...and...

[fionnuisce]

It isn't going to kill me. Don't worry about it.

[Waver laughed softly, giving a dismissive shrug before turning to take the cookies out of the oven--he was reasonably sure that had been long enough, and they did look alright...]
