What do you do when you wake up to realize that you're once again entirely alone?

A promise of change that never happens. In this place, of all places, I was almost happy again. I could have been happy again.

But then I woke up. And I was once again completely alone.

How do you go on from that? Is it even possible?

We all got something we can contribute to this fight. Even if all we've got is a pair of hands.

It's because they sent you back, right? You saw what happened to your dimension, up close and personal? I've seen talk about that happening a lot.

[David was about to add something else, but he pauses long enough for a response while he's lost in thought. How many times had he visited a dimension where Earth had been ruined and depopulated, on Portal Corp's recon missions?]

It was a different place than the first time, but yeah. To see the power of this... this worlds-killing disease.

I saw what happened to the place that used to be a prison to me. Even the magic has been sucked out of the air.

Look. There's still a chance we can turn this around, and bring back all our dead worlds. One of the guys here was looking into that. One of the admins.

I don't know much about it, other than that's been going on. I've been trying to find out more. But if they've had any leads in fixing thia, there's still hope. So don't give up just yet.

You really think people can do it in eight months?

I keep hearing that it might be possible, but is it really? Maybe it was just a lie to keep us going.

Yeah, I think it's doable. Back home we saved ourselves from a war of extinction in six months. I've personally had a hand in stopping world crises of all kinds.

It's a tall order, I'll give you that. Reversing something that's killed a ton of alternate dimensions is bigger than anything I've taken on before, and that includes other interdimensional threats. But we won't know if we can fix this thing if we don't try.

I'm glad you have experience. I've only jumped from land to land.
