What do you do when you wake up to realize that you're once again entirely alone?

A promise of change that never happens. In this place, of all places, I was almost happy again. I could have been happy again.

But then I woke up. And I was once again completely alone.

How do you go on from that? Is it even possible?

Maybe he lied.

[ It's a very short answer, and it probably seems very cruel too. But it's more just since she's projecting. After all, her own parents weren't there, they never were, yet they kept saying they wanted to be with her so badly - what a lie. ]

He didn't. I know him.

But he was always a coward, running away from the truth.

[chainsawn]

How are you sure he didn't lie?

Some people pretend they are something they're not.

You'd have to know him like I do to know.

It sounds like you've had it pretty rough.

She stares at the last words. They distract her from the topic itself, even, for better or worse. Then she starts typing again, slowly. ]

Why do you think so?

I just have this hunch we're not talking about me, here.

It's okay. We're kind of like kindred spirits in a way.

[chainsawn]

I've never had a kindred spirit before.

I mean, nobody else told me that.

That they're a kindred spirit.

[wegotlucky]

That's okay.

Think of it as proof you're not alone.

[chainsawn]

We're in the same boat.

Someone very important to me left me many times. If you know what that's like then you're not alone by virtual of us getting each other.

[chainsawn]

I know what it's like, yes.

A lot of people have left me. Back home, and then here too.

She likes to do that.

To take us from our most important people, and to take them from us.

[chainsawn]

Why?

[ For a moment nothing more appears. It's just that baffling to her. Why would anyone enjoy taking important people away from each other? Important people are the most important thing in the world.. ]

That doesn't make sense.

It doesn't, does it?

Wish I knew what goes through her mind.

[chainsawn]

Bad things, probably. Only really, really bad people would like to seperate people like that.

It's the worst thing you could do.

You've got a point.

We really are better off not knowing.

[chainsawn]

No, I still want to know.

I want to know what she's like so I can saw her into the tiniest pieces possible. [ Well, isn't that just a normal nad happy statement.. ]

[He can't really blame her. He's also been in the Tower long enough that such a statement doesn't even register as odd anymore.]

Just be careful. She barely cares about her own allies.

That only shows she's even worse of a person, right? You're supposed to care about your friends. People close to you are the most important thing possible.

Yet she doesn't have any she cares for like that.

Yeah, she's pretty terrible.

But she claims that she did all of this to save us. That's a lie, obviously, but you can never be too careful. She's stronger than any of us, including people who can use magic.

[chainsawn]

Then what do we do?

Someone told me I have to protect the person important to me from Ruana.

But if I can't beat her, then I can't protect that person either. Right?

[wegotlucky]

There's got to be other ways besides fighting her.

At least until we know we can beat her.

[chainsawn]

How do you protect people from someone without fighting and killing that person?

[ Probably a weird question coming from a 15 year old teenage girl from a very normal living situation back home... ]

There are plenty of ways.

Can you name one? I would like to try it.
