Okay, so is nobody gonna talk about all that strange stuff that happened at the end of last month? The explosions, that psychoradi-whatsis that Riki guy was talking about? I mean seriously, c'mon, some of that stuff was freaky.

[And she of all people knows freaky pretty well.]

Anyway, I guess since it's almost Halloween, what does everybody think about ghosts? And not those wierd floating things you find all over the place here. Just in general.

[She's not using the word "phantom," it feels weird.]

Why do we need to talk about it? It won't help anything.

[Ghosts?] ...Honestly, I don't believe in ghosts.

Well I guess we don't have to, but not talking about it isn't doing anything either. I thought maybe we could figure out what it all meant, or something.

[Because seriously, the knocking on the door, disembodied legs walking around everywhere?]

Wait, you don't? Why not?

[He pauses a moment, looking a little awkward.] ... You really think... talking about it, and figuring it out would actually do something?

[Not actually said in a jerk tone. It's more of a curious tone, than anything. Enlighten him, if you will.]

Well, back home, I never saw any.

...Here's different, of course. Anything can happen, in this place. I guess what I mean is, I don't believe in ghosts existing on Earth.

That stuff was pretty freaky. I guess most people are avoiding the subject, because they just want to forget about it. Who can blame them, though, right? [Scratches the side of his face a moment, before he finally responds to the next part.]

... I can't say I've ever actually seen a ghost--besides the ones you just mentioned, so I guess I'm not sure what to think.

I guess... [She doesn't sound convinced] It still seems kind of pointless to pretend it didn't happen.

What do you think about the ones here then?

Sometimes, people have to deal with pain in their own ways. [He offers an encouraging smile.]

The ones here? [He pauses. I guess I'm starting to get a little... used to them?

[He's not. They get to him every time, but he's going to try to pretend, okay? ...and he might be failing at it. It's pretty obvious he's lying.]

Most of the ghosts I've seen have been out to kill me. I'm sure there are nice ones out there somewhere, though.

[She sounds a little doubtful. But then, what she thinks when she hears the word ghost is probably a little different from most, and definitely different from the associations Dani will have with the word.]

On my world, they're said to be the remnants of people who died with unfinished business. But I don't think every bit of "unfinished business" has to be something that would turn a person murderous...

Huh... sounds really different from mine. I mean, I haven't exactly met too many at home yet, but they've always seemed more like the "cause chaos and mayhem" more than anything.

[At least so far as she's experienced. Which isn't a lot. Vlad never really wanted any of the clones to meet any of his allies in case the let slip to Danny what was going on.]

They're kind of a lot like people. Just with crazy obsessions like hunting or cafeteria food or something like that.

[And being ghosts and causing mayhem sometimes.]

Eh, it wasn't that freaky. Kind of neat, actually. [And the cheerful smile on his face seems to reaffirm that.]

And sure, ghosts exist where I'm from! A good dark mage can channel them, but I've never done it myself for real. Maybe I should change that.

Well, I guess it wasn't too freaky. What happened to you?

[The disembodied lower halves was kind of a little bit, but the knocking was more annoying and confusing than anything]

Wait... channeling them?

[Whyyy does she not like the sound of that]

I got stuck in a room and almost blew myself up! And another guy got axed in the leg, but he still has it. [He sounds almost a little disappointed by that.] Oh, and my friend started acting a little weird when it looked like we were in a white room.

You heard right, too! Channeling them, sometimes they give a real boost in your magic power, or you can talk to dead people if they're around. Oh, I guess they can take over your body too, that would be so neat!

I was a ghost once. Twice, actually. It was fun.

[Now that catches her attention]
