[The man basically has his nose to the screen right now and he still can't see what he's typed. Oh well, hope it's legible!]

Heh, you alright there?

[Thankfully the reply is mercifully short, so it doesn't take too long for Rick to squint and parse what's been posted.]

Re: [text] - 2/2
[...Dammit, hand was offset! Let's try that again.]
I'm afraid not. My glasses broke, they were my last pair. Is there some way you couldhelp?
[text]
Some way? Well, I might have a spare set that I could change, but I'm not sure.
How did they break?
[text]
[Take that last statement as you will--its interpretations are varied and all fairly entertaining.]
...A monster stepped on them. My fault, really.

...How am I uspposed to tell from a text-only post?

You know I have enough trouble talking to people when I'm right next to them. Taking at a screen is...weird. I can't do it.
[Video, because how does text work?]
[..Thanks, Lorelei.]
I might be able to make some lenses, maybe. Um, but do you have an idea of what you need for them? It'd help. Especially if you have other glasses.
[text]
Oos, sorry. It's kind of hard to check.
I used to, but I lost them in the elevator shaft. I have the pieces of my broken lenses, though. Is ther any way you ocould fixthem from that?

[This can't end badly.]

So you don't do FaceTime?
[text/action]
[He keeps his word. There will be a blonde man waiting near the stairs, with blue eyes tracking whatever vague movements he happens to catch coming from that direction. Lorelei has distinctively red hair, at least. Can't be too hard to miss.]
[text]
At least he doesn't blend in, even for someone with bad eyes. White, black and vivid crimson have a way of standing out. He's in no real hurry but neither is he particularly slow. Lorelei knows where he's going this time!
..And it's probably going to save some confusion that perhaps Rick won't be able to quite see that Lorelei's mouth doesn't move when he speaks.]
You're the fellow with the glasses, I hope?
[action]
Ah--y-yeah, that's--yeah. H-Hello. [He gives Lorelei a small wave but, interestingly, doesn't make any attempts to move forward. He seems pretty content to just keep leaning on the wall there, don't mind him.] S-Sorry, I...sh--should've...uh...
[Yes yes, typical stammering greeting. Give him a minute.]
...I'm R-Rick. It's...n-nice to m-meet you...?

You can call me Lorelei, most do. There's no reason to apologize! I'm here, you're here, we can get things fixed up no problem.
[Really, everything's just fine.]

L-Lorelei....Thank y-you. [As he speaks, the blonde man searches through his pockets and starts producing what's left of his glasses--the frame, taped together and bent awkwardly in places, and one intact lens. It seems the pieces of its broken counterpart are in his other pocket.] I, ah...r-really a-a-appreciate the h-help.
no subject
[And he seems to mean it too. Lorelei liked helping people! Maybe it was because he could heal just as well as he could destroy. Carefully he reaches to take the glasses from the blond man and balance the one-lens pair in his hands.]
Is this the same amount of .. uhm, focus? In each lens, or is it a little different? Do you need more than one pair? I can make more if needed.
[text]
[She just doesn't comprehend 'shyness' what is this.]
no subject
Y-Yeah. I think--uh, s-same f-f-focus. [They might be slightly different but he can't remember; it's been more than a couple years since his last change of prescription, so he hasn't had to check.] --C-Could you r-really? I m-mean-- [He chuckles softly with embarrassment.] --at the r-rate I'm g-going through them, I-I p-p-probably should h-have a-a-another set.
no subject
It won't be any problem at all. Having the pieces just means I'm making a more accurate second pair. Or third, or fourth, or whatever is needed.
[That stammer's still there, which might be why the Seventh Fonon is going out of his way to keep his tone as pleasantly reassuring as he can. He liked people, and if that's nervousness, well, he'll try to help. ..He would anyway.
The glasses - what remains of them - are turned over in his hands thoughtfully. A low but not unpleasant humming follows, and a peculiar warm golden radiance; in one hand he holds the broken remnants of Rick's old glasses, and in the other, a second pair rapidly constructs themselves seemingly out of nothingness and that gold light. After a few moments, there's a perfectly ordinary pair of glasses.
They're offered.]
Here you go. Let me get the other set.
[Lorelei is very good at creating duplicates of things, when he wants to.]

[Curiously he accepts them. His eyes widen with surprise as he holds them to his face to confirm, twisting them around in many angles but clearly not internalizing any information that might bring him, before finally slipping them onto his nose. The world comes into sharp focus.]
[A childlike grin tugs at the corners of his mouth as he looks, amazed, between Lorelei and the broken glasses still in his hand.] --H-H-How--?
no subject
It's just a thing I can do.
[That's ... quite an understatement. He sets to creating the second pair. There's that golden light again, busily constructing the second duplicate.]
I can control a certain particle called the 'seventh fonon'. Through it I can do things like this, if I want to. It's kind of handy sometimes. My isofons could too if they practiced but I don't think they have been.
[As the radiance fades, the second whole pair is presented with a cheerful smile.]
But now that I know what they should be like, if you need other ones I can make them no problem.
no subject
--Th--That's--r-really neat! [He accepts the second pair and once again inspects them closely, though this mostly consists of swapping them with his current pair and playing with the hinges.] I--well--a-alright then! Thank you! I-I c-can't do a-anything...n-nearly this f-f-fantastic, but--if you n-need me for s-something, I'd be...more than h-happy to r-r-return the f-favor.
no subject
I find it pretty useful! And you're more than welcome, it's nice to make something instead of just destroy it sometimes.
[His new role in the Tower: making glasses. This is okay by him.]
Well, if anything comes up then, I'll be sure to ask! I'm happy with just having a friend, in a place like this, really.
[Lorelei is happy to name anyone nice to him as a friend. Who needs more than that?!]
Oh while I'm here, did you need anything else?
no subject
Ah--w-well I--d-d-didn't h-have anything in m-mind--d-don't want to k-keep you f-from a-a-anything i-important.
[SHE'S NICE.]
no subject
I don't really have anything important to do beyond exploring! Did you know there's a floor not far from here filled with slides, ladders, and hungry snakes??
[Guess where he was headed before he spotted that call.]
Well, I'm off then. If you need anything else, don't hesitate to ask!

There's not a lot I can o about it.
