[Video] Yotsuba & Presents!

[For anyone looking at the network today, they would see a little girl with strange green hair wearing and orange knitted scarf and a pair of knitted green gloves, even though it wasn't really cold out. There was a reason for this, and the girl started chirping, waving her hands in front of the camera so that everyone could see the gloves.]

Good morning! Yotsuba got these things in the mail today, but I dunno who sent them! I don't know if you're a good person, but thank you! Zett said a lot of people use the..ter..termanals, so I hope you'll see this! Thank you a whole lot! Can you tell me what they are though?! Yotsuba doesn't know!

[And with that, the feed would click off. The girl would be watching for any replies though.]

[Compensating for not having his kid around? Probably. He barely got to know Henry and he feels terrible about it.

At least Yotsuba seems to be miraculously okay with the situation given where she is.]

You know what, that's a good point. It's been a while since I visited the workshop.

[If Neal was compensating, there was no way Yotsuba would know, even if she wasn't fully okay. She did worry sometimes, even if she did trust the good grown-ups she met.]

Okay then! Yotsuba's gonna hop off to the workshop then, so you do too, okay?! You better hurry, or I'm gonna leave you behind!

[And with that, Yotsuba would leave the computer and start running up to the workshop, not really worried about whether or not the guy would show up.]

[He can't turn down that offer.

He nods before Yotsuba runs off, starting towards the workshop himself. She's young enough that even though it seems like she's able to hold her own, at least when she isn't around monsters.

Still, he can't help but hope she stays safe so off to make sure she is he goes!]

[While she had a sling, she had gotten out of the habit of using it or really carrying it around, which was something that had to be fixed soon-and probably would, with how many monsters there were in the Tower. But, for now, Yotsuba would just keep up until she reached the workshop.

Once there, she would start getting out the materials she thought they would need for the gloves-a needle, thread, and cloth. And all while still wearing her winter clothes.]

[When Neal arrives in the workshop, he smiles slightly to himself. She seems to be a cheerful kid.

He can hope that it's not an act, that she is genuinely happy here even if she is separate from her family.]

You know, I've made a few things here before. A bow and arrow.

Can't be too careful here. Seems you've got good luck, though.

[Thankfully, it wasn't an act. It was hard to Yotsuba to fake things-when she was happy, she smiled, when she was sad, tears would fall, and when she was mad, she would attack. Plus, even though her home family wasn't here, she had built up quite an artificial family here.

But, she would pause in her work for a moment to smile up at the good grown-up.]

Really?! Those are awesome, but I don't know how to make them! Can you show me?! And Yotsuba's a little lucky! I die sometimes, and bad things happen, but I was brought back too and a lot of reeally good things happen sometimes too! How about you? Are you lucky?!

[He's glad to see her so happy. He's not so sure that he would have been able to be so cheerful at her age if he had been trapped here.]

Sure. You have to promise me to be careful, though.

[While Neal might not have been quite happy if he had been here at Yotsuba's age, she was a strange child. Plus, it wasn't like she hadn't gotten scared here or died sometimes. As she spoke, Yotsuba would start cutting out the pattern for one of the gloves. It was a little hard to do when you were wearing gloves, and the shape was probably a bit too big for Neal's hands.]

I promise! Yotsuba will be careful! But you hafta be careful too, okay?! I would be super sad if you got hurt!

[Neal didn't mind gloves that were a bit too big. He was grateful for pretend that just for a moment that things were normal. Henry was older than her, but maybe this was the sort of thing that they would have been able to do.

He moves over to one of the benches, looking through the various bits of metal. He might be willing to give her a bow, but maybe the arrows can be built in another way to keep her from accidentally hurting herself. He wasn't as young as her when he had first learned to hunt, after all.]

I promise. I'm not going to get hurt.

[Arrows made out of wood or something might keep Yotsuba from hurting herself. Even if she had been at Neal's age when he learned to hunt, she wasn't really a normal child that would keep out of things if they looked dangerous. After all, she didn't always know what was dangerous and what wasn't, even if other children her age would know.

As Neal searched, Yotsuba finished cutting out the pattern for one glove and started on the next.]

Good! How do you make a bow and arrow though?!

[He was thoughtful before responding.]

Well, normally I make them out of whatever I find lying around, but we're going to make it a bit different for you.

[Because the last thing he wanted to do was give her access to sticks with jagged bits on metal attached to them.

He digs around a bit before finding wooden dowels sturdy enough to be used as arrows and begins to get to work with them. Just a couple. He'd set up a bulls-eye and hope that she didn't go around shooting monsters with the blunt arrows.]

[Sadly, Yotsuba was the type of kid that would try shooting monsters and murderers with blunt arrows. It wasn't that she was stupid..she just didn't know that blunt objects were mostly useless in a battle. Since she was interested in what Neal was doing, she tried to pay attention to him while she finished cutting out the second glove and starting sewing up the first.

Which would result in some nicked fingers, but she would try to be brave about it. Hopefully Neal wouldn't mind some blood on his big gloves.]

Really? How come? How are you gonna make it different?

[If he caught on to the cut fingers, his instant reaction would be to bandage her up with whatever he could find in the workshop.]

I'm not going to use anything too sharp as the point. Arrows tend to have very sharp points, sharp enough you can accidentally cut yourself with.

Wouldn't want you to need stitches.

[While the nicks hurt, it wasn't like Yotsuba would scream at them. They hurt, but the pain passed, even if the cuts did sometimes sting. The blood was a little annoying to deal with, but Yotsuba managed to finished sewing up the first glove as she replied.]

I dunno what stitches are...but if the arrows aren't sharp, the monsters and bad people won't be hurt, right? That's not good!

[Luckily, by now he had been expecting a response by that and he smiles.]

Oh, don't worry, they'll be sharp, they just won't be bladed.
