[The video opens to a young man dressed in purple, looking a bit anxious.]

...Oh man, I really hope this thing is working. I don't think I broke it, but it's not like the 'Gear, so I don't know if it's actually transmitting...

[He studies it for a moment before finally relaxing. An easy smile crosses his face and he leans forward a bit, actually managing to look at the camera.]

Well, if this thing's working, then hi! I just woke up here this morning, so I'd like to know what's going on. The last thing I remember is going to bed in [the Team Rocket base, but he's not going to mention that] Goldenrod, and now I'm here. I don't think this is like that weird dream everyone had - this doesn't look like that castle, after all - but correct me if I'm wrong!

[He steps back from the terminal and reaches up to absently tug at the collar around his neck. For those of you who recognize this man, it might be a bit of a surprise to see that the collar is blue.]

Oh yeah, what are these for? I definitely didn't have this on when I went to sleep. It's kind of annoying, but I can't get it off. Is there any reason for that?

[Ryuunosuke pauses, tapping a finger to his chin in thought. As he's thinking, a strange ghost floats into the frame and starts pulling faces behind Ryuunosuke's back. He doesn't seem aware of it at all.]

I think that's about it. I guess I'll be here in the library if you want to come talk to me directly, otherwise I'll respond on this thing! ...Assuming it's working, that is. I'll feel really dumb if this isn't broadcasting...

[He reaches over to shut the camera off, still smiling innocently.]

Pokemon? Is that what the critter behind you is? I guess if it's always with you, you'd stand out from your double. Unless he has pokemon too.

Yep, that's right! He's a Haunter - a ghost! I definitely plan on keeping him with me since he's really powerful. I've also got a couple of others with me too, so I'll always have at least one of them out!

Nope! Liepard's a purple leopard [his spirit animal] and Drapion's a... well, I think he's a purple scorpion? But he has arms on his head so he doesn't really look like a scorpion...

[You know what, it would just be easier to show them off. Ryuunosuke steps back from the terminal and releases both Pokémon. Sure enough, there's a purple leopard and a giant purple scorpion with headarms.]

I had a few others in Johto, but these were the only ones I found here. They're my strongest ones though, so it's not like I'm complaining!

Woah! Cool!

[He gives an impressed whistle at the animals appearing.]

They're like your familiars or pets, right? They'd probably be useful when it comes to defending yourself against the monsters here.

That's right! A lot of people in Johto would argue that they're "friends", not pets. But you use them to fight other peoples' Pokémon so I think calling them friends is kind of strange.

[Ryuunosuke, literally no one cares.]

--Wait, there are monsters here? I guess I should have expected that with what you've told me already...

Pets can be your friends. Especially the ones who're also your partners in battle.

[Lancer knows this very well. He would call Liath Macha a very dear friend.]

Yeah, there are. They come out at night. Some of them are really nasty, though most of them stay out of your room.

That's pretty unfortunate. But I'm sure these guys can help me out if something bad happens!

[Hopefully, that is. There was that one monster in the Nightmare Castle that they refused to fight, so hopefully it won't be like that...]

Just watch what floor you're on. Some of them take your powers. And two months ago, Jason released a bunch of plague doctor monsters who couldn't be killed by anyone except those with orange collars.

Really? That's pretty specific. I wonder why? What do the collar colors have to do with anything?

I dunno. Something to do with your soul, I guess. Orange color people are usually the ones who don't have powers.

Huh. So for some reason only the people without powers could kill those things... That's pretty strange!

[Then again, what about this place isn't strange?]

Well, thanks for the heads-up! It sounds like you've had awhile to get used to this place!

Yep, more than a year now. Though it might not be for much longer. This place is running out of energy.
