Residents of 2-10, I was hoping to talk to you all about possibly squatting in your room for a few days a week. Obviously if there are any major objections, that will be the end of discussion, but I'm hoping everyone will remain reasonable about this. [Her tone of voice makes it pretty obvious that she will not make it the end of discussion in the slightest.]

...Relatedly, to my roommates in 1-07, would bringing home a bunkmate be absolutely out of the question for anyone? I promise to keep him out of trouble. Or out of anything sharp...

And for everyone else who's interested: Does anyone have any methods to snap someone out of something? [Sigh] I'm at a loss and completely open to ideas at this point.

[Of course not. Who would be suspicious of the adorable little mad scientist. She is very sweet and not crazy after all.]

The short version is I live in your room. The longer version is, it's not "me" per se, so much as it's a different version of who I am, though he is the same as me, other than two very important details: For starters, he's male, and secondly, he's completely insane and without someone to watch him, you're in danger of being dissected in the middle of the night. And it would get very, very messy. [Which is her way of saying she's worried about him.]

Dissected? [A scoff.] Whatever. Not my problem. If you're that concerned, just keep him out altogether. Makes it easy for me and then I don't have to deal with either of you.

[You seem more than just a bit unhinged, after all.]

Unfortunately, he's rather attached to his room. So one way or another, he's not leaving. You're not losing a roommate, merely occasionally gaining one, if anything. Try all you like, he won't leave.

[Her smile morphs into a sadistic smirk] And it's important that you realize, you're not the one I'm concerned about.

Tch. Rather lose one than gain another nuisance. I don't care if you're concerned about me or not; I only care about a bunch of lunatics in my room.

If I were you, I'd rather have at least one lunatic who knows how to calm the other one down in case of emergencies. [Pause] He doesn't feel pain, or sympathy, or much of anything. If he sets his designs on you, there's not much you can do, really, other than hope that someone more interesting comes along to distract him. So if I were you, for the sake of self-preservation alone, I'd let that nice woman offering to take care of that lunatic in my room do her job.

And what leads me to believe you're any more capable of maintaining your sanity than he supposedly is? You said yourself you're the same person, after all. If it's about my self-preservation, I'd rather just lock you both out.

Oh, I'm just as insane as he is, I just control my insanity better. So much better, in fact, that here in this tower, you would never know unless I volunteered the information.

Plus, just because we're the same person doesn't mean we've had the same experiences.

In my experience with humans, insanity is insanity. You either know what you're doing, or you're batshit crazy. It's hard to change that just through experience.

Insanity is multi-faceted. You could be my kind of insane: Mostly lucid, could pass for a perfectly sane individual fairly well, minus my inability to understand typical emotion; or, you could be his kid: Unable to understand reality, along with hallucinations, violent mood swings, and some highly unnerving facial expressions.

[Sigh] And for what it's worth, where I'm from, insanity is contagious. Experience counts for a lot in this case.
