For first impressions to a place I have seen far worse although that has not been common.

[It's hard to imagine that a voice so young could possess such a dull indignation while speaking. For someone who has been tested on mercilessly for a month and altered both physically and mentally during that time he sounds far more annoyed and tested than truly angry.]

To build a prison one doesn't require just physical walls, but mental ones as well. A prisoner only learns to see a prison as a cage and not just a building only after that prisoner has been broken, like how a caged bird doesn't know how to truly use their wings because they've been clipped. But the difference is that the prisoner must clip his own wings. You can be held down but your ability to fly cannot be stripped unless you surrender it.

You are not prisoners until you allow yourself to believe you are.

Although something interesting did come out of "test" we endured. Many of us seem to be from different worlds. Some don't even seem to be human. I come from a world were there are many creatures as well. I have quite a curiosity in the worlds everyone else comes from, and the creatures that live there.

Ah. It's also come to my attention that there are many people here from my world. If they would be so kind, I would like to speak with them.

[OOC: I still need to put up a permissions post proper for him, but one small thing about Lucifer. He does have a supernatural sense that allows him to tell what others are if they're some form of supernatural/powerful entity. For beings not from his canon (at the very least) this is regulated to only getting a basic idea of what they are (god/demon/grim reaper/ect.) and not anything about WHO they are beyond that. It is. It is truly disgusting when someone decides to give up. To allow themselves to be carried by the current, instead of steering it.

They decide to focus on being weak, rather than learning and growing.

None of us know that for sure. We come back from the dead on a regular basis.

Nothing is for sure. That's why change happens. But there is no such thing as an infallible force that can't be toppled.

I refuse to believe that.

The options disappear only because you allow them to. Options may be taken from you, but you can always find others.

You self-destruct because you are too great a fool, or a coward, to notice the other options in front of you.

[A little shaken on this end, but there's one thing about him, it's this: any fear or despair only adds power to the Fool. His team had been affected enough as it is; he doesn't need to add to it by falling to pieces in midst of the darkness he was able to reach through for power...

Your words are harsh and merciless... but there is a layer of truth to them. However, one must remember to be a beacon of hope for those who have lost it.

Or you can be too over-confident in your strength that you forget that just because someone is weaker then you doesn't mean that they cannot defeat you. Everyone's got a weakness, and everyone's got a strength, and no one can stand alone.

[There's a pause, and then a small laugh on Lucifer's end. To be complimented for his defiance...even he wasn't used to that. It amuses him.]

I have always been a stubborn one.

They might do ten times worse and still I will not give in.

I have never forgotten that. There are varying degrees of strength and weakness, and that someone who might be viewed as weaker can overcome the stronger is always a possibility.

And yet many seem to ignore this possibility, whether it's a possibility that benefits them or not.

...No. One can stand alone, just not all the time.

Quite a few. Perhaps more than you imagine.

I have found people tend to be more capable of positive surprises than negative ones.

Some call it mercilessness. Others simply acknowledge it as reality.

One might find hope in others and be inspired, but it always for the best if one's beacon of hope is oneself.

Perhaps, but over the course of human history there are more who give up than there are who fight. There are exceptions, but there's a reason they're exceptions. Then again, if we were really brought here as a result of our world dying and they could only save one person... it would make sense to choose the people with a higher likelihood of being exceptional.

At the same time, too many people like that in a place tend to cause a rebellion... as was previously attempted.

Perhaps. But it is always those exceptions who have been the worldshakers, the ones who would define what the world would come to be for good or for ill.

And you assume yourself to be the most exceptional person of your world? You can say that with absolute certainty.

Of course. But with the power those in charge of the Tower apparently wield they fully believe they can keep it under control. I suppose time will tell how well that will hold.

Oh, it's almost a certainty that they don't have as much control as they think. Where the cracks in that control are... now that's what'll take some exploring to find out.
