Our captors seem to care little for class when selecting individuals to bring to this place. [And she might as well get this out in advance.] Extensive formalities are not necessary however, considering we are all trapped in the same situation.

I'm getting the impression that the people responsible don't care much for anything distinguishing people, so long as they can do whatever they want with us.
