I'm supposed to believe the world is destroyed? Really? And everyone along with it.

[While the girl's voice sounds steady enough, she's not doing a perfect job at hiding the emotion behind it.]

My name is Saki. Asami Saki, but please call me Saki. I'm from Asunaro City, in Japan, on Earth. What I wish to know is whether any of the following girls are here. They would all know me by first name: Kazumi, Mirai, Kaoru, Umika -

[She pauses briefly.]

- Nico, and Satomi. They are all friends of mine from home. I'd like to know if they are safe.

To everyone else, it's very nice to make your acquaintance. It's quite a shame it's under these circumstances.

[Before she ends the video, she takes the hair pin out of her hair and holds it in both hands. It becomes a small, egg-shaped object that glows lavender.]

If any of you hold one of these, I would like to speak with you. To the rest of you: I ask that you don't try and take it or steal it. It's a matter of life and death to me, quite literally.

[She changes it back into her hair pin and puts it back into place.]

Uh, kid, it's a hairpin. People were less likely to steal it before you pointed it out.

It isn't just a hairpin. Perhaps I was foolish in transforming it and saying that, but it's more important that I put out a call to anyone that might be like myself.

Yeah, but there are ways to do that which aren't basically just like hanging a tag off of it that says, "I'm a magical artifact! Please steal me!"

I think I'm still in shock. A lot has been going on at home, and being pulled here in the midst of it...

[She pauses, sighing.]

Anyone who tries will find out quickly why it's a bad idea, at least. There's that.

If you say so. [Asking why would just lead her to give away more information, and seriously, he had no interest in stealing some girl's magical hairpin anyway.]

Yeah, you get whiplash pretty bad, especially after something big just happened. You get over it in a few days.

Mm. I hope that's true. I'm just trying to keep calm and try to get my feet on the ground quickly.

You got any fighting experience? Like, any at all?

I do. I'm used to a whip as my preferred weapon of choice, though I think I can work with any sort of ranged weapon.

Then you're fine. Most of the monsters here go away if you whack them hard enough.

How often should I expect those? Every night?

Yeah, pretty much. They're a lot easier to deal with during the day, though, so get all your chores and shit done before then.

Yeah, they are. ...But hey, it's pretty easy to forget for a bit if you find yourself the right haunt. [Hint: it's not. Beat's attention span is pitifully short.]

Sayaka shuts off the video before she can make a fool of herself further. She needs a plan. She can track magic with her soul gem, but - there's so many magic users in the tower, and she's only been able to track the really obvious sources in the past. Like Lina.

Sayaka re-watches the original video a few times, attempting to figure out where Saki is in the tower.]}

She's never heard of any of the people Saki had mentioned - even of Saki herself. But that's normal, since she was... from different territory.

[Saki gives Sayaka a quick once-over once she sees her in the distance. She looks so young. Like Mirai. Her expression softens at the thought, and she gives Sayaka a bit of a smile.

She isn't Mami, no, but neither is she Kyouko.]

Yes, I'm Saki. A magical girl, and part of a team of witch hunters called the Pleiades Saints. What's your name?

_{[The smile manages to get her to lower her guard somewhat - if she'd been able to get through a conversation with Homura without disaster, this new Puella Magi oughta be fine, right? Sayaka smiles back.]}

You had a team...? That's not something our type do often. Sounds nice.

_{[Just like Mami's timeline... Sayaka folds her hands together in front of her, a positive bit of body language - that shows off the ring that's quite obviously her soul gem.]}

Is it? It didn't feel strange at all to us. But I think it's easier if I explain how we formed the team.

It all began with Kazumi, really. She became a magical girl long before the rest of us, and she saved the rest of us from a witch. We were each affected by a witch's kiss, but she showed us that deep inside, we wanted to keep living.

Kazumi invited us to her house after that, and she and Jyuubey explained everything to us over lunch. The wish, the contract, the way we would need to fight. And so we all made our wishes.

[Saki leans over a bit, looking at Sayaka's ring, then extends a hand.]

It's nice to meet you, Sayaka-chan.

_{[Sayaka listens intently as she explains. ..she wonders if Saki really could be from the same timeline as Mami is - the one where everything seemed to go right. It wouldn't be too far fetched for another group of magical girls to form and work together in that world, right?]}

So Kazumi was your mentor, huh?

_{[She thinks the name's just a mispronunciation, or she heard it wrong - just 'Kyuubey,' in the end.]}

..it sounds like it all went so fast, but.. you guys were able to work together from the start like that. I can barely believe he actually explained things, though...

_{[..she knew what she wanted to wish for from the start, anyway. Because they didn't wait, their mentor didn't suffer for it like Mami did.
..eh, is she offering a handshake? Well, it's not something she does often, but... Sayaka accepts the handshake. ..with her undecorated hand.]}

..Mm! I've never met a Puella Magi that didn't come to my town, so.. meeting you is pretty different. ..the circumstances aren't exactly awesome, though.

["So much more than that," Saki wants to say. But it's true, nonetheless.]

She was. I believe she said her mentor was a magical girl named Mami. Mami-san told Kazumi to be very careful when she made her wish. Kazumi told all of us the same thing. The only one of us who didn't tell us all her wish was Nico. She whispered it to Jyuubey. I think sharing our wishes made us that much closer together.

[Saki laughs lightly.]

She also made us call out the names of all our attacks. She said if we didn't, we weren't 'real' magical girls. I might have been the leader during battle, but Kazumi was the heart and soul of our team.

[It especially hurts that Kazumi is gone, but Saki won't say a word about that. Instead, she hides that pain, disguising it as sympathy.]

It doesn't seem that way. It's hard to believe everyone else is gone...

--Mami-san, as in Mami Tomoe?! Like Mami, "Tiro, Finale!" Tomoe?

_{[Sayaka stops mid-handshake to jump up in surprise, awed. Mami-san indirectly inspired a whole huge group of other magical girls...?

Not that she's - necessarily surprised she did, Mami was the best possible example of a Puella Magi she'd ever met.]}

*Enoch either doesn't realize the feed from his end is on, or doesn't realize he's speaking loudly enough to be picked up.*

Pardon? I didn't quite hear you.

*Oh. Oh, well this was embarrassing, wasn't it? He turns on the filter in case someone could use this against her somehow. He just thinks people walking around literally wearing their souls probably wouldn't want that fact advertised.*

I was...surprised by what you can do. If it's worth anything to you, there's one more here, and...I learned I could cleanse hers.

Can we talk in person about that? I appreciate it, but I'd rather speak about it in person just in case.
