...When someone leaves...

What happens to them?

[The question seems to be relatively simple, but he hasn't really researched much into them. Maizono-san and Enoshima-san are both missing, and after checking their rooms, it appeared that they're really... gone...]

...And if they're dead before their arrival here, would they return to their former state when they're sent back?

But how can they be alive here and not there?
alienstookmyburgers: (You've got a good point.)

Yeah. But maybe if they go back now, they'll be alive. Because of the tower.

[ That's.. actually not something he wants to think about, reverting to that - he doesn't want to die again, especially not now he has a second chance at life, but.. ]

Didn't they say our world was destroyed?! How could we leave this place then??? [ he doesn't even realise the girls are gone yet, but.. ]

Really? Stuck in some freaky dead world.. that sounds awful!

[ if only leon would be less lazy so he would actually network trawl, huh. ]

viditlibertas: (☆ But how...?)

[personal profile] viditlibertas 2012-08-21 03:24 am (UTC)(link)
Those questions have never been answered
Regrettably, I doubt we would be given an honest explanation anyway

However
Have you ever heard of the quantum immortality theory?
viditlibertas: (☆ Simple pleasantries)

I am sorry for star tl;dr

[personal profile] viditlibertas 2012-08-22 03:51 am (UTC)(link)
Let us say you have a gun, with six cylinders
There is a bullet in only one cylinder
You put the gun to your head, and you pull the trigger

There are two outcomes most make of this- life, and death
If you die, you are unable to observe anything further
If you live, you observe your own survival

Now, let's say that you keep pulling the trigger, until there is only one shot left
You would think you are now guaranteed to die
However, that is not true
There are many things that could cause someone to survive

Let's say you've survived all six clicks
That's quite impressive, isn't it?
But at each of those pulls of the trigger, there was still a possibility of dying, even if you perceived your survival

Now, pretend each of those clicks are like branches
One will lead to a reality in which you have died
The other, to your continued cognition
In this way, even if you had died, there is still a path in which you could have lived

Of course, this is a simplified explanation
There are an infinite amount of paths and ways mankind could come to pass, or exceed expectations and limits
But I have watched over man for eons
Even if your friends are dead in your singular branch, there are branches in which they will survive

That, in a sense, is a sort of immortality

I've been gone quite a while, and I was in my ruined London the whole time. I'm not sure it's the same for everyone- but if I was able to return, then I believe anyone should be able to!

[Yeah, that's a random-as-hell kid trying to cheer you up, all right.]

[A while before her response comes. She doesn't feel emotional about this in the least, but she recognizes that Naegi needs his space.]

People say that they have returned to their worlds alive, but...

Given the behavior patterns of the tower's administrators, that still doesn't guarantee anything.

[By which she means she hasn't discarded the possibility that it's just more messing around with alternate universes.]

We still don't know their motives. Practically speaking, it's in their best interests if they have us abandon hope.

*Enoch is not a quick typist - a keyboard is very different from pen and paper. But even then, he types in his usual long-winded writing style.*

I have a theory. Before I came to this place, I was in a world not my own, brought by "rifts". I should think that our hosts bring us here by deliberately utilizing them, somehow, and that for the most part they may control them. But like many natural things - I assume the rifts to be natural - I should not think they have control of all of them at all times. Perhaps those that are gone have been taken away by a natural rift and are in another world, hopefully one that is not destroyed.

*Proving his slow typing skills, the response takes a little bit of time to show up.*

I do not believe the rifts are visible or larger than one person. I was with five others when I was taken from Earth, and I was the only one who emerged on the other side. In addition, I neither saw nor experienced anything unusual: I took one step at home and in the next, I was not.

I would presume they are terminated.

That is the logical conclusion to draw. Death is inevitable, unless they return to the tower or are transported elsewhere.

You go home. If they were here first, and then they're not, that means they went home.
So you shouldn't worry too much.
