[ Seemingly quite distressed despite everything said and done, a weary Haldir appears after several days of pure silence on his part. While many seem quite grateful and thankful for the feast, Haldir seems utterly aloof about it. Many probably would assume he's just being his usual "self" but those who do know him could probably sense his melancholic state. ]

They give us a feast to celebrate, yet I see no reason why we should. Had those fools acted sooner, we could've avoided such needless destruction.

[ He grumbles. ]

Perhaps there's no reason to lament so, yet still...

[ Unsure what to say, Haldir gives up and tries to set his bad mood aside. ]

Tell me, friends, is all well? Alucard, Legolas? I have not heard from many since the travesty first unfolded.

[ A soft sigh escapes him. ]

I must know, what sort of fate has befallen upon The White Wizard? He is another I have not heard from in some days now. The same goes for so many others who I'm certain attempted to be valiant in the face of death.

[ Alucard hesitates for a moment before speaking, his face however speaks volumes, an open book of emotions: worry, concern and maybe even a little confusion. ]

I was worried, you... did venture into the throng of madness, didn't you?

[ A tired smile welcomes Alucard followed by a quiet sigh. ]

Knowing you would sacrifice yourself for others prompted me to act.

I cannot be sacrificed, there is nothing that would end me as easily as it would you.

[ Or so the dhampir believed, thinking himself to be as immortal as his father ~~is was.~~ ]

I wanted you to stay out of harm's way though...

How can you be so certain? Your life is more fragile than you think.

[ He pauses briefly. ]

...Forgive me. I didn't mean to break my promise.

There is nothing fragile about me Haldir, you are... so convinced that there is a gentler side to me but I cannot understand where it is that you see it.

Perhaps it was unfair of me to ask you.

[ Choking down the irritation he feels now, Haldir gains the courage to say something that might shed some insight as to why the elf viewed Alucard so highly. Whether or not Alucard believes him is ultimately up to the dhampir but Haldir tells no lies. ]

I see it your eyes.

[ His blue gaze is solid and unyielding not at all wavering. ]

You aren't fragile but you are gentle. You cannot deny this truth for I see it in your gaze.

[ Despite Haldir's confident gaze, Alucard felt his own eyes wander. No one had ever said something quite so meaningful to him before and it made him feel more than a little self conscious ]

I... how you see something like that is beyond me.

[ He replies quietly, brow furrowing. It seems he simply cannot understand Haldir's kindnesses ]

No, mellonamin. Nothing is beyond you.

[ A sad smile touches his lips as he watches Alucard. It will take many tries to get the dhampir to believe his words but Haldir refuses to give up. ]

Where you, Alucard? I wish to go to you.

[ Strangely (or perhaps even funnily) enough Alucard suddenly has the urge to smooth out his hair at the mention of Haldir coming to see him (and this is caught on camera), it's a subconscious action that he doesn't even realise he's doing. ]

I am still in the higher levels of the tower, it may be dangerous for you here.

[ The action isn't lost from Haldir's sight who smiles in return. ]

I do not fear them.

But you ought to fear me...

[ The dhampir whispers, tone of voice small and broken, he clears his throat before speaking again ]

You may come and see me, if you wish.

Then you best to be waiting there for me. I shall come with haste.

[ And with that said, the elf vanishes from view. ]

[ Alucard had stayed on some of the higher, more stable, levels of the tower. He had heard about the feast down below but the brutality of the attack had caused him to stay away from people, he did not much feel like socalising but made an exception for Haldir. ~~He always would.~~

He sat at the bottom of what once was a set of stairs, idly looking at the rubble and mess before him. ]

Such a waste...

[ He whispered absentmindedly to himself ]

[ It didn't take long for the elf to find Alucard but once he did, it took all of Haldir's willpower to approach. While the dhampir hadn't seemed too cross at him for breaking their oath, Haldir couldn't help but feel as if he disappointed Alucard in some way. He felt as if he betrayed the young man allowing for his sense of duty to overwhelm all sense of logic. Had the march warden stayed behind as Alucard expressed, then Legolas and countless others would've surely met their grisly fate at the hand of foul beast. Yet despite this truth Haldir still felt somewhat ashamed of his choice.

Dressed in a dark purple cloak with the golden hilt of the Glance Reviver by his side, the blade that Lenneth blessed him with, Haldir appeared before Alucard with a somber expression. ]

There you are.

[ Alucard was a confused mixture of emotions, as able-bodied as he felt he was, during the attack he had aided none and none had called for his aid. Damned creatures and monstrosities of the onslaught had avoided him and he had been left alone. With nobel intentions that he was beginning to question he sat now, deep in thought.

The hunger in him had been bad the past couple of days and as time went on he began to feel more detached from his human persona.

A moment passed after his elven friend's arrival before Alucard noticed him, finally looking up he seemed forlorn, almost lonely, but his conversation remained pleasant enough, if somewhat monotone. ]

Haldir, it was kind of you to come and see me.

[ A ghost of a smile appeared briefly upon the march warden's face as he came nearer. ]

Kind? No, I think not considering I plan to pester you for as long as you can stomach me.

[ He chuckled. ]

[ A confused smile appears on his drained features ]

"Pester" me? Why would you want to do that?

[ The dhampir asked meekly, curiosity quite genuine. ]

[ The elf sighs dramatically at his dimwitted friend. ]

As thick as the thickest iron, I see. I was merely jesting, Alucard.

[ He blinks wide-eyed, as if the concept of joking was completely beyond him ]

Ah, oh, forgive me. My mind was not in the right place. Although you are welcome to stay for as long as you wish, I doubt there is anything you could do that would lead me to not being able to stomach you.

[ Giving Alucard an unimpressed glare, Haldir suddenly leaned forward and ruffled the young man's hair until it was a complete mess. Once every blond strand stood straight up like a straw of hay, the elf pulled away with a smirk. ]

Don't seem so glum.

[ This startled Alucard and he almost shied away at the touch, looking up from his feet, to the elf, and back down again. It was rare that anyone felt comfortable enough to be this close to him, let alone ruffle his hair. The dhampir finally moved to try and smooth out his platinum locks. ]

I-- [ He stammers ] --yes, quite. Forgive me, I did not mean to come across as quite so depressive.
