what do you while waiting for the sleep paralysis to wear off?
i mean it was kind of terrifying the first time
and maybe even the second time
but at this point its like the hugest fucking waste of time to be stuck lying on your bed waiting to get feeling to your fingers again
but now im curious
what is the longest you got stuck lying in bed for
like an approximate if you werent sure of the exact time

Yeah. But movie covers can be pretty misleading too. Sometimes they're really terrible, but the movie is still good. I'm not really a huge movie buff though. [Movies are all over the place. Don't worry Naminé. You'll probably be completely overwhelmed at how different all the movies will be.

While Dave here is overwhelmed about dumb things.]

Hm. So it's like-- not judging a book by its cover. [That's not a huge epiphany, no, but anyway,] I guess we'll find out what the case is with this one. [... Wait, no pun intended.] ... Er, well, what it's like on the inside, I mean.

Yeah. [It was the hugest of epiphanies, obviously.] I know most of what I grabbed, but there's a few others i just tossed into the pile out of interest.

[He might just be overwhelmed the entire time. This is like the most awkward not date. It's just two pals hanging out and watching movies. Yep. Wow, he's such a loser.]

Hm.... It's-- kind of exciting that way, isn't it? If you don't know for sure what you're going to get. [Not that the same uncertainty would be welcome in other aspects of life, but.]

[WELP lucky for him then that she doesn't recognize it as a date, not!date or otherwise. This is just a Friend Thing that Friends apparently do? If they're friends, that is. (She kind of hopes they are, even if she's not sure she should allow herself to hope for something like that.)]

Sometimes. But sometimes the movie you watch is just the saddest load of shit you ever had the displeasure of watching. [And then you wasted like two hours of your life watching it.

It totally isn't a date! Dave just happened to ask his friend that is a girl to watch a movie with him. Totally platonic yo. But they are totally friends.] What...do you usually like doing? [Trying to get to know you more. Shh.]

Hee...! Well, maybe. [Give her a second to consider this.] But that's part of the fun, too, isn't it? [Either that or five minutes, after which you decided to remove and smash the disk.]

[Good! Now, tell her that--] Mm-- I draw. [Which may not be the same thing as liking it?! Her hobbies really include keeping spiky haired kids out of trouble.] And I like to read, too. [... Someone get this girl more tv time, stat--] Why? What do you usually like doing?

I guess so. Sometimes they're so bad, they're good. [Or at least amusing to watch and makes it slightly worth your time.] Sometimes you feel like you just wasted your time and maybe your money. [It's a terrible syndrome to want to watch it in entirety and regret every second of it.]

You draw or you like drawing. Two different things. I mean. I want to know what you like to do and maybe we could do it together. You know. Like friend shit. [How on Earth can you get this awkward, Dave.] I guess I still like making music. I kind of don't do a lot anymore.

I'd like to see that...! [This is an interesting concept to her, okay.] That seems like a shame. Even then, though, it's still a new experience. [If one's into that kind of thing, of course.]

Well-- I guess I do like it, too. I just... don't usually think about it very much. [But oh-- that sure was the word 'friend' she just heard, wasn't it? That makes her blink, looking momentarily startled, but she tries to take it in stride.] -- Because of the Tower?

I'll find one that's like that so you can get the full experience. [It's mostly ridiculous.] You win some, you lose some. That happens. Still sucks.

I used to draw stuff. We can do that together. It would be fun. [Maybe. Probably. Hopefully?] Yeah. The Tower kind of keeps us busy. [Dave won't openly admit he's probably been avoiding people more the longer he stays here.]

...! [OH HEY someone else who draws? This is very interesting to her!] Okay...! I'd like that. [It'd definitely be cause for concern if he did, though as it is she's got enough to think on.] ... Do you miss it? Making music, I mean. Or-- drawing, too, I suppose.

[He's not the best drawer though.] Cool. Another thing for another time. [Good thing she won't ever know. Hopefully.] The movie is starting. [That jackass totally changed the subject. He doesn't want to think much about it. He'll have to think about how long he's been here and how much he's been out of touch with everything he used to do.]

[She'll just smile a little. Silly guy, as always.]

[Not that she cares.] Right. It's a plan. [Hopefully, because that would be tremendously awkward for all parties involved. She watches him a bit longer after the subject change; she saw what he did there. Well, if he'd rather not talk about it, she'll just look back at the screen.]

[Nope. He was totally not obvious about it. But he turned his attention back to the screen.

Who the fuck wears sunglasses while watching a movie? Dave.]

Who doesn't notice when someone wears sunglasses while watching a movie? Naminé. It's both because she's just so used to seeing him like that that she doesn't think about it too much and because even those silly opening things everyone has seen a bajillion times when watching movies are new and interesting to her.]

[These two are just flawless. But Dave is glad she seems pretty entranced with the movie. It's kind of cool the first few times you see it. Not so much when you've probably seen it that you can't count it on your toes and fingers.]

[Movies in general are enough to get that reaction out of her, though one that's so... well, fanciful, does add something to the experience.]

[In hindsight, Willy Wonka is probably a movie that doesn't really ease someone into the movie viewing experience, but hey. Might as well start with a bang, right?]

[It seems to be working well enough. She'd probably find it a lot sillier if she didn't come from a universe where Santa and mermaids and talking skeletons and zombie pirates are all things that legitimiately exist. As it is, she seems to be having fun, if one knows her expressions.]

You really only gave me vague answers, like you're doing now. He said a lot of stuff that sounded like you but was a lot more open, is the only reason I ask.

Like, he repeatedly told me that he was okay because I was here now. He had me up on some kind of crazy pedestal. I think I'm mostly making sure that you don't have me on that same pedestal, because wow, when I fall off of that thing it's gonna be ugly if you do.

[Oh my god. Just this face. What the fuck did his shadow say to John and why?

He hates everything right now and he wants to die. JUST LET HIM DIE RIGHT NOW.] What...

[He casually hooks his thumbs on the waistband of his pants and splays his fingers out, rocking onto his toes and back to his heels a few times. When Dave just plays dumb he huffs and drops back to his flat feet and wipes a hand down his face, letting his arms swing limp at his sides when he's done.]

Dave, that thing told me a lot of shit and I can't even remember half of it because it was really weird. I need you to be honest with me for a minute here, because a lot of that stuff was weird or not okay or just kind of worrying? And you're my best friend, you're supposed to be honest with me anyway.

[Oh no. Why did it tell John of all people. He thought he would be okay as long as John didn't see that grotesque boss version. But it probably told him basically everything he hasn't said in the passed couple of months.]

What exactly did you want to know? [He's obviously not talking about any of these things unless John flat out asks.]

[There's a part of him that's kind of bothered by Dave's secrecy, and a part of him that's happy about it. He didn't need or want to know half the things that shadow told him, but now that he did it left him with more questions than answers.]

[He shifted his weight.]

Well you definitely said something about me getting eaten alive by spiders. [He frowns, hesitating and trying to find a way to not bring up the next part.] Which, uh. Obviously wasn't actually me but also segued into you saying you got skinned alive and left to die?

[Dave isn't ever going to stop being secret about what happens to him. Get used to it John.]

Oh. The John that was here before told me. I guess he got caught. [Dave died before John did. Or at least, he didn't know about it until John had told him.] We were playing a game. [Dave was using the term very loosely. It wasn't really so much a game as one of the most terrifying moments of his life. It was like a horror movie come to life.] We were playing hide n' seek. I got caught and I wasn't going to let someone else take the fall. [Dave was aware he didn't actually talk about the part about dying. He was still being stubborn about it. He just...didn't want to think about it. He can honestly say that he can still remember how it feels.]

[John can't hide shit like Dave can, he's basically always an open book in expression. So when Dave skirts around the topic again, he visibly deflates, and just shrugs.]

...there's no point in trying to talk about this, whatever. If you don't wanna talk I'm not gonna make you. [It just hurts a little that you won't trust him enough with this kind of thing.]
