I will be willing to sell the locations of candy that I have no taken for myself, in exchange for favors that I can and will call in, later.

These transactions will remain confidential, and I will not inform anyone that I have divulged such a location to you. As for how I know these locations, I will not share. I am, however, a man of my word. It is, after all, a hallmark of any respectable business integrity.

Hmph. I'll try to think of some ways then. I'm no philosopher, scientist, or entity from the Collective Unconscious, but I might be able to gather a few odd ideas.

[ Normally, one would think such a response would generate facepalms or scolds of "you seriously have no idea what you're talking about," but instead, Wilhelm is more amused than annoyed. ]

Far be it from me to discourage creativity. But this is a very difficult thing to comprehend, and I do not expect success. I will not dissuade you from trying, however. Just know that you should not get your hopes up.

Well, I do agree that this isn't going to be easy..but nothing worth going after in life is ever easy. After all, if Wataru had just stuck to the easy road, Brave Story would never have happened!

I'll just have to try my best and figure out a few things. I'll have to go back and e-urm, read a few sci-fi novels..and some science books..

And Hamlet did not accomplish his goal without great sacrifice. Nor did Laius avoid his fate.

Laius could have avoided his fate if he had listened and stayed away from the alcohol. Hamlet went insane, killed quite a few people, and killed himself in the end. He's not a person that should be looked up to or imitated.

That is precisely my point. Humanity attempts to avoid fate, to cheat it, but it is by virtue of being human - with all of its flaws associated with it - that they will fail each and every time.

Who says that we'll always fail? Sure, quite a few heroes in stories don't listen to who they're supposed to and make a lot of stupid mistakes. However, if people can pick up on that and realize, 'Hey, that result happened to that guy when he did that. Maybe I shouldn't do that if I don't want that result.', then maybe we can avoid things like that.

And who says that the end result is already determined or that fate cannot be changed? If nothing could be changed, than the main characters might as well sit in the corner and wait it out. But they don't! They go out, they work as hard as they can, and they change the future. They change the fate of the lives and places that they're involved with!

The Compass? What is that? Is that what you use to see into the future?

If so..then maybe it's wrong.

That is correct.

Until I see an alternative path forward for humanity, I will continue to seek the Eternal Recurrence. Humanity's survival is more important to me than sentiment or hypotheticals.

But couldn't humanity's survival be improved by thinking about those hypothetical's and understanding the sentiment?

No.

Hm. Why not? Don't have enough time to? Or is it not worth thinking about and understanding?

Humanity will not be able to save itself until the Collective Unconscious is strong enough. No amount of sentiment will be able to change this.

Then, other than Eternal Recurrence, how can people make the Collective Unconscious stronger?

And while I admit that sentiment might not always be needed, at least thinking about the hypothetical's can lead to a better future.

I will confess that I do not know. But I do not have the luxury of speculation. Humanity's survival is too important.

It is important that humanity's song doesn't end..but in figuring this out, wouldn't it be a lot faster to help out humanity?

Expediency is irrelevant to me. I am several billions of years old. It is, perhaps, a foreign concept to me. A long time for humanity is, to me, an instant. A long time for me would seem like an eternity to you.

In the end, what is important is not what is most convenient, but what will work.

I understood that you were an immortal already. I know that time feels differently to you than it does for me. A blink of an eyes for you is three thousand years for me.

However..wouldn't it be interesting to find out if what will work and what's convenient connect somehow?

If such a thing were possible, I would already know of it.

[Tohko sighs when she reads this message. She'd love to be able to prove him wrong, to think of an alternative, but..even though this annoys her..]

I see. Sadly, I suppose that option is impossible in this situation then. However, there may be others that neither of us are thinking about.

You are welcome to come up with ideas. However, I would advise you not to become overly optimistic.

I can't promise you that. However, I'll think of ideas and let you know once a month what I find. Does that sound good?
