Um... I have a question. And a request. Is it possible to make things in the tower? Food, I mean. I know they provide us with food, but I'd really like to try making something of my own.

[She frets a little, but doesn't hesitate much when she speaks up again.]

... And that's where the request comes in. I was hoping someone would be able to teach me how to make something. A... a cake, to be exact.

Yeah! If you ask, they let you use the kitchen and any of the ingredients they have there!

I see... that's good. But do you think they'll have all the ingredients for cake here?

Yeah, they do! I mean, you might not be able to get super-fancy with the decorations, but we have eggs, flour, sugar and pretty much everything else you need for a basic cake.

I think that might be good enough... I'd really like to make something special, but it's the thought that counts, right?

Mmhmm! Besides, you can make some pretty tasty stuff anyway. Cream cheese frosting is really good and it doesn't take much fancy to make, and we can always get berries and the like for flavor.

I'm not exactly sure what she'd like, though. We didn't really have much choice on what kind of food to eat back home, so I never got a chance to ask what she did or didn't enjoy eating...

Hmm... well, if you can't figure something about before we cook, just go with something you know she won't dislike? I'm sure they'll be happy with whatever it is, if you made it just for them.

I... don't think so? All we had to eat back home was... um. School cafeteria food. She didn't really complain then, so I guess she's not that picky...?

Well, it'll probably be okay then. Maybe we can stick to just vanilla since I don't think many people dislike that, and you can ask her what other sort of things she'd like when you serve it, if you ever want to make another!

... That's assuming she'd even want me to make something else for her. [She doesn't show it much, but Hakuno can be very fretful when it comes to her own abilities.] I have plenty of time to practice, though, so hopefully I won't mess up too badly...

A birthday! On December 15th. I know it's a month from now, but I want to make sure I won't mess up.

Oh, well, then we have lots of time to practice! Heheh, that's good; then the one you give to her can be one you made by yourself. Oh, and maybe you can find out what kinds of foods she likes before then! Maybe ask about the food here, since you didn't have much variety back home?

Yeah, I'm planning to give her one I made by myself. It's not like there's anywhere to buy presents here... so that's the very best I can do. And that's why I asked so early; I can practice until I'm sure I won't mess up something important as a birthday present.

Hm, that might work... a little suspicious, but I'll just have to hope she doesn't catch on...

Just bring it up during a meal, saying you like something then ask what she likes? Well, you might not get cake things, but knowing other kinds of food she likes is good too!
