... Of course it is. The flame of life is being extinguished, even if it is only temporary. Death will not change, no matter the circumstances.

Certainly that is one... downside of death, yes. But the pain, the fear, the trauma... those are things nobody ever wants to experience. Those are several reasons why humans - why anyone, really - are so afraid of death.
