[The network has rebooted, and with it the translation systems--everything is in working order once more.

The following files have appeared, apparently by accident, on the network:]

security037-055
experiment037-009

[These files will be available for two hours before being deleted, although those with particularly good computer skills will be able to find the deleted files again.]

[Voice is easier. Voice keeps him calmer.]

They said it was a long time ago, so she was clearly a child then.

How long have they been here?

I don't know. When Dax contacted us, he told someone she's older than he is, hundreds of years old, but this is normal for humans here.

So this captured voice could be hundreds of years old.

Unless they kept backwards compatibility - or haven't had any new inventions within the past several hundred years - I doubt very much an audio recording like that could be kept without any degeneration. I'd imagine a system several hundred years old would have extreme difficulty in playing anything...

It may be meant to last. The clothes I wear have endured three hundred years, and my companion had a phone that is older than that. I wouldn't be surprised at this point, should technology have come to mimic that magic in another world.

I guess it depends on the technology here, yes.
