...I don't understand this at all. Not one bit.
Are we supposed to feel sorry for this girl Ruana? Be her friend? She sounds like a confused child. If they did the same kinds of things to her that they're doing to us, she deserves at least some sympathy.
At the same time, though, if she's happy to go along with what they're doing, and it isn't an act, then I can't exactly be sympathetic.
...I will say that I'm glad that the translation mechanisms are working again, however. That's such a relief.

--Anyway. ..It doesn't really matter what we're 'supposed' to feel about all that stuff with Ruana, right? It'll just make things muddy and confusing.
[Sayaka's not quite sure how to word anything right now. She and Jin had stumbled on the idea that Ruana was experimented on a while back, but now that it's confirmed -]
She'll just go on saying everything's okay now as long as nothing's permanent. Same way Jason says it doesn't matter what he does to us. It's cuz it's a game for her, and she's always playing games. That's the facts.
perma-voice;
...you're probably right. It's times like this that emotions would just make things confusing.
A game. How can anything like this be a game to anyone?
--> and now there's a privacy lock
[guess who's been slacking on her network note-taking lately? Sayaka Miki!]
...eheh. I think I kinda get how she thinks, but - hold on a sec.
[She fumbles through the settings to enable a privacy lock on the conversation. Once it's set, she continues.]
You remember Halloween. I mean, of course you do...
--> perma-locked;
Really?
[Saki waits for the privacy lock.]
I can't forget it. I killed my - it's complicated, how I feel, but..yes. I can't forget.

...Okay.
[Sayaka mulls on the confession for a few moments. She definitely knows the feeling, but isn't sure whether it'd be cheapening Saki's experience to go "yeah, I killed an 'it's complicated' too." In the end, she decides to focus on her original point.]
We all got our different costumes. ...I was her. That's why I think I understand some of how she works, and she said it's 'okay' now, but-- it's all to make herself feel better, you know? We're at her expense.
no subject
['It's complicated' doesn't even begin to do it justice, to be perfectly honest. But it's the best she can do, without getting into the whole mess that was life back at home.]
Perhaps I should have put that a bit better, but a girl in our position - [Saki fiddles with her Soul Gem for a moment, to make that clear.] - never has the easiest time with that sort of thing, at best.
[But all thoughts of relationships and such are put aside with those last words.]
Oh my God...that makes sense, but to think they would use the administrators as costumes. That's awful. It might have given you some insight into her thought process, but at what cost? Learning that we're all pawns in a game she's playing? That it's all at her expense?
no subject
[Took that a bit to sink in right.]
You put it fine... ..it's dangerous, but I guess I've just not been thinking about it like I usually do... [The version of her that had came here, what - eight months ago? - would vehemently protest, if someone told her she'd ever say that.]
Are you two gonna be okay? Y'know, you've talked to them and not let things just.. lay like that? [Don't take the Sayaka method of dealing with it, she means :I]

Kazumi...we think she was the one responsible for what happened at Halloween, too. We think they experimented on her, and the result was her thinking this was all a game. Like Halloween? She thought it was a game.
private;
[For anyone to think something like that was a game... to be in a state of mind where they could...]
private;
She's so broken that she can't be fixed. We don't know what she was like before. We wouldn't be able to fix her if we tried.
[Saki's request isn't asked yet, but it's coming: Please don't try.]
private;
[A request Kazumi will have to hear out loud before she'll accept it... she just can't easily ignore something so sad.]
private;
The only thing we would be able to do for her is kill her, were she a witch.
But she's that far gone, Kazumi. She's that broken. I think she would see anyone that tried to help her as a threat, and try to hurt or kill them.
I know it hurts, seeing someone in that much pain. I wish there was something we could do. But the best thing to do is leave her alone. Please don't try to help her, Kazumi. I think you would only be killed in the process, and I don't want that to happen to you. Please...
private;
Saki... mmn. I just... [It all just makes her feel so helpless]
[ video ]
[ video -> private; ]
[Saki filters the video to private.]
Sayaka-san says she's almost positive Ruana was experimented on herself. I think that because of the experiments, she's become convinced that they're some kind of game. She doesn't feel responsible for what she does anymore.

anon text (since sayaka actually used voice)
If she herself is a past experiment, then we may all need to be more careful than even previously thought.
perma-text;
I don't think there's any 'may' to it. We definitely need to be more careful. If she's a past experiment, she may very well just not care about the consequences of what she does anymore, and that makes her dangerous by default.
ditto (man times new roman club is active tonight over this)
We've done a cursory read of the information gathered, and I at least am concerned that this may be some form of grooming program. Also, that there is an entire city out there that follows this practice to a possibly higher extreme...
It's not painting a very optimistic picture.
times new roman club is the best, man
[But had she, herself, been much better back home? The girls in the freezer, waiting for a prince's kiss to turn them back into regular girls?
Yes, she reminded herself. The girls would have died horribly otherwise, their sanity gone.]
text
She's the last one. She's crazy in every meaning of the word. Take it as you will, but that's the way things are.
perma-text;
I'm taking it as 'we need to be far more careful than we previously thought.'

Jason may be a complete bastard, but Ruana's a lose canon that's starting to get sympathy from the idiots that are stuck here. Put that together with her power and mentality, and she's probably way more dangerous than we've already seen.
no subject
Going after her would be a suicide mission, but so is letting anyone else decide to get so close to her that they think helping her is a good idea. She's too dangerous and too unstable.
no subject
So either we let her run her course or hope for a miracle. And I'm not really a god-fearing kind of guy myself.

I think you're right on that front...but it makes me wonder if she's really just a damaged soul or something actually malicious. I don't know what kind of person can be capable of...the things that happened on Halloween.
