[A few people had already told him that they couldn't hear the music that's been plaguing John for about a week now, but that doesn't mean that there aren't other people hearing it, right? And after seeing someone else ask about their own head problems, John figures it's worth an ask. Especially since it's gotten so loud it's hard to hear anything else, and the addition of voices only makes the whole thing worse.]

please tell me that somebody else can hear the music.
and the screaming voices. though somebody else already asked about that so i am more concerned with the music.

[He can just keep an eye on Axel's post to see who else is hearing voices.]

it started out faint and it was easy enough to ignore. kinda like johto's stupid bg music.
i can't block it out now.
i don't recognize the tune.
i can't hear anything other than this fucking music.

[For anyone who wants to run into him instead, John can be found either in the 3rd floor library, glued to a computer terminal, or wandering the lower floors with his Litwick and Dusknoir. He's no longer sick but he still doesn't look so good. He hasn't been getting the best night's sleep ever since the music picked up and he hasn't slept the past two nights in a row thanks to the screaming.]

i already tried that.
neither rose, karkat, nor vanellope had no idea what i was humming. none of them could hear it either.
give me some credit. i did at least make a few attempts to figure this out before running to the network.

Hey Egbert. Still wasting time, I see. What are you doing?

[John's eyes are glued to the computer screen in front of him, fingers tapping the keys perhaps a little too harshly. Thanks to the music, Vriska's greeting goes completely unheard. At least by the boy. The Litwick on the table, however, definitely notices the troll. She looks a little different than the Vriska she's used to, but the voice and basic shape of the girl are the same.]

[With a squeak, she zooms off of the table and beelines for Vriska's shoulder, plopping down and rubbing against the girl's cheek, cooing happily.]

[Vriska recoils sharply from it at first, because she has absolutely no idea what it is, and even if it seems friendly she's on the defensive. Still, it seemed to be with John? Maybe this was something else he'd adopted like that ridiculous salamander from the game. She doesn't shove it off her shoulder just yet. She moves closer to him, reaching out to grab his shoulder and jostle him a little rougher than necessary.]

I wish it was music accompanying the screaming.

Maybe it'd overpower it then.

are you saying you can hear it? or can you just hear the screaming?

it just drowns everything else out. i wasn't kidding when i said i couldn't hear anything else.

no i really am. hearing people you know screaming in agony is about one of the worst things i can think of.
nobody should have to listen to that, that's fucked up.

not really? like it's loud and it's nearly impossible to hear over it but i wouldn't say it drones.
it's all distorted and occasionally it plays in reverse or skips or does some other stupid thing that music has no business doing.

[He doesn't want to talk about this. Even if he agrees with it it's just something Pokey wants to get his mind off now and is sorry he even brought it up. He supposed he was interested just to see if anyone else got it as bad as him. He's unsure how he feels to hear it seems to be just mindless screaming for everyone else. Pokey just wants it to stop.

That's messed up. You tried playing music out loud or something yourself, like going to the media room and using the music player there to try and over power it or something?

If you can get your mind off it maybe you can get rid of it.

it's a good idea but i am a little hesitant to try that.
with how loud i would have to turn the music up to even hear it over this, i might end up ACTUALLY deaf as a result.
the world i was in before had background music playing all the time but that was really easy for me to tune out.
none of my techniques i used there work with this, probably because i guess this really is just all in my head.

[Thank god for text. He can sound calmer than he actually is, because that admission has him freaking out a little bit. He's been denying it for days now. He just can't be going crazy.]

You don't think there's some kind of pattern or message in the music do you? I know that's probably asking a lot since this garbage is probably random.

there was initially but it's all kind of warbled and mixed up now.
