What happened to your hands?

I tried to pick up a weapon designed to kill things like me. I found it in my trunk.

Why would you even pick it up...?

It was taking up space.

You should have asked someone else to pick it up.

This is a special gun and I don't want you getting hurt when you touch it like I did.

The only way a gun can hurt you is if you point it at yourself. And I don't have any plans for that.

I don't know about medical stuff, but I can probably whip up something that will at least numb your hands a bit. How badly did you hurt them?

[Not mentioning that what he'd be whipping up would be more likely to be a weak poison than anything else.]

They look badly burned. And they hurt a whole lot.

Damn. I'll do what I can for you. If you're friends with any actual healers, they'll be able to do more, but at least I can take care of the pain.

There may be something for burns in the infirmary, but I know very little of the medicine there. There may also be some skilled in healing elsewhere in the tower. I know my great-uncle has healing magic.

Magic? I didn't know people could do that.

You didn't? There are many people here who can. Some have different means than others, but it is magic all the same, magic that could not be performed on my world.

Or, I take it, yours.

I don't know much about my own world, even.
