Sentiment cannot be allowed to cloud my judgment. No arbitrary price is too great to pay when humanity's very survival is at stake.

I exist to make the decisions that humanity cannot. To have the foresight that they lack by virtue of their own mortality. Were humanity capable of guiding itself, my existence would not be necessary.

Do you enjoy it?

It is not my job to enjoy it. I do it because it is necessary. No more than a shepherd enjoys guiding a flock, or than a parent enjoys raising disobedient children.

Do you care about humans?

Of course. If I did not, I would forsake my duty and leave them to their fate.

Life is a precious thing, isn't it?
