This is my first new year's day, now that I think about it. People make resolutions around this time of year, right? What are yours?

I'm instructing a few other people in both swordplay and firearms. If either of those weapons suits you, I'd be happy to take you on as a student.

[He thinks about that for a moment. Learning to fight with a weapon certainly would be helpful.. though he's never used a weapon before, and the thought of using one makes his stomach turn. But... in this kind of place, it's something he'll need to do.]

I would really appreciate learning. I don't have a preference between swordplay and firearms, so I'll leave the choice up to you.

Swords then - they never run out of ammunition and I've always favored them anyway. The meadow floor is the best place to practice; when would you like to meet?

It's nothing. I'd do the same for anyone in this tower who wanted to defend themselves, and besides, it was a little awkward just thinking of you as a person who I briefly thought of as my boyfriend. A teacher-student relationship will help put that into the past.

She had caught the sickness that was going around last month... But she seems to be over it, which is a huge relief.

That's good to hear. I'm hoping that this month will be better than the last.

I don't think that really matters.

Jason does seem to be the worst out of the administrators, but each of them have put us in experiments of their own. So we might not be forced into a situation as bad as if it were a Jason month, but that isn't to say we're not going to get put through something terrible.

You have a point there... I won't let my guard down.
