[America flinches back from the screen when England says it's like lightning--lightning is really dangerous! But then, cautiously, he touches the screen again.] It doesn't hurt.

No- the electricity for these is in the wires, you see. [Or...basically in the wires. Metal and conductors and circuits.

For ease of understanding, it's in the wires.] And the wires are usually wrapped up in different colours, so the electricity can't hurt you.

[He gives a small laugh.] It's almost like magic, really.

Almost? [England is treated to a white monitor as America leans in and peers over the terminal, looking for wires. Not finding any, he returns to look at England.] What is it instead?

Science. But it might as well be magic if you don't know a whit about science. [Modern technology is indistinguishable from magic blah blah blah.]

Well-- science has never been one of my strong points, but I can teach you some things.

[Meaning "the easy things". And "some of the hard things but none of the really hard things".]

Yes! [America likes stars, and always has. He hops up in excitement.] Teach me stars!

[It occurs to England that they can't exactly find the same stars in the Tower as they can on Earth. Which unfortunately would render most of his knowledge useless.]

Alright. We'll have to look in some of the books from the library to find our stars. [It's not quite the same as sitting outside with a telescope, but it's probably the best he can do.]

What about that big place with all the stars? [You know, the one that shows all those universes being destroyed. America's never made the connection, though.] Can we use that?

[England looks a little confused. America either means the observatory -- which is out of the question, between the clouds and the window-crawlers -- or the projection floor.

He does not know how to gently let America down.] Well, we could look at them, certainly. But they're not the same stars as the ones in our world.

[Which means England has no clue what they're called or how to find them!]
