[Hazy though the reception may be, a pair of dark, deep brown eyes pierce the veil of the deliberately bad reception.]

Attention, denizens of the tower Animus. I am Doctor VIctor von Doom.

I am the greatest scientific mind the world has ever seen. And here as well, of this I have little doubt. As is obvious, I have now become entrapped by this incessantly mysterious "Tower of Animus" against my will as were all of you. A mere glance at the place speaks volumes of words.

[His voice is strong, proud, and most of all, quite demanding. It's not even muffled by his steel mask, a crude parody of a human face.]

But know this--such a thing does not deter one such as I in the slightest. As a matter of fact, I am actually quite intrigued by all of these people and their..."gifts"...for I have not seen many of them before in my lifetime. Knowledge is power, and the more that is learned, the far more powerful I am viable to become.

Some of you have already had the glorious fortuity to have met Doom upon his arrival. And to you, I say, that was merely a speck of my true majesty. For in the coming weeks and months, great change shall come to this place. So I shall abide to you all this one warning, and this one warning only--

Do not get in Doom's way. I am a busy man even now, and I do not tolerate incompetence. Only in the briefest times when I have a spare moment may you ask me of a small favor should you desire it. I am, above all things, magnanimous, should I gain something in return. Such is the way of a boon, and I am not one to ignore such...opportunities.

...Dare I ask what your ancestors did to earn that name?

It is merely a name and nothing more. My ancestors were merely peasants, slaves in their own Romani lands by a tyrannical ruler. Nothing more.

Now I do shall ask, what is your name, questor? Enlighten me as to why you would place stake on something as ethereal as a name.

My name is Enoch. And I ask because for a name to be unusual, a word like "doom"...usually means it is earned somehow. A nickname, passed down with its lineage.

[He pauses. "Enoch"? Like, the Biblical Enoch? And here he was talking about names...]

Such a reputation does not precede my family's history. And I would ask you be more diligent in regards to a man's past history, as I have not been so kind in the past to such mistrusts.

Tread carefully, seeker. My patience remains strained yet underneath my work.

*Well, this one gets a free pass due to actually being the biblical Enoch. He smiles a bit uncertainly at the assurance that "Doom" has no meaning at all.*

From the threats, you certainly seem to want to give that name of yours meaning. Do you realize you sound rather...ominous?

*He does, at least, look and sound as if he's really hoping it's a genuine misunderstanding and lack of judgment, rather than sarcastic as those words might have been taken were they communicating in text alone. Even if that hope doesn't seem all that strong. The smile is strained, and doesn't quite reach his eyes.*

It would appear you are correct, for once. [This slightly pleases him.]

As I am a king and a just ruler, I would hope that my name spreads a certain level of fear and reverence. I am certainly aware that my name shares that of the specific connotation "Doom", which means an inevitable end. But when 'Doom' is spoken of as a person, they refer to me. And it will be rightful when it is of fear, as Doom is fear itself in that he can dictate their life or death.

Hmmmph....it is rather tiresome lately that more than one has asked me if my name was real. Were they in person, I would have shown them the error of their ways. Please, let us speak no more of this nonsense. Certainly one as open minded as you would appreciate something more mentally stimulating then a discussion about something so trivial as the origins of a name?

*That...sounded like the opposite of a "just ruler", but...he was kind of tired of arguing over what kingship...or any leadership...should be. That one argument with Saber had been more than enough for at least a few more months... He doesn't like this man's demeanor, but he certainly won't be one to start hostilities. There'd been more than enough of that.

He thought the meanings and origins of names was a fascinating subject. A name is tied up in an identity, after all... But he has too many of those. Too many lives attached to too many names. Might be better to do as he suggests.*

What would you suggest?

A far more creative use of my time--what you plan to do in the future, for example. For it would be most beneficial should you include me in it.

[His eyes seemed to glow green, but just for a moment.]

I am, after all, a powerful ally to have. Once I prove it, you shall know.

I have no plans for the future, here, but to survive what the less...considerate of our hosts have in store for us.

I would not think it wise to allow oneself to meander through these halls on wits alone. I speak of a long term goal, Enoch. Certainly you would know what one is. No one knows the word more than I! Doom strives endlessly for his goals, not stopping where he is nor taking one step back!

It could be years before that goal can be reached, but victory is always the sweeter. And that is what keeps me going forward, the future I know exists before me. Shall I not share this with you? Do you also want to build yourself towards a greater good?

For in the end, there is nothing Doom cannot accomplish.

No one knows it more than you, you say to the man who searched for his for three centuries.

*Enoch...is surprised at his own bitterness. But he's getting just a little sick of Doom being so full of himself, and claiming superior knowledge of this of all things?*

Here, we can have several goals. To escape, but to where? To see our worlds restored, but it's uncertain and out of our hands. To live here peacefully, but how?

The only issue is information. We know little about this world, and our means to learn here are limited. Biding my time and seeking opportunities to find more has always been the answer. As it is...I have no plan because I don't know which is most feasible yet.
