[02] || [What is Love?] || [Video/Text]
Greetings.
[ As is usual for Data, his message is simultaneously sent in both video and text formats. ]
There has been a weeding recently and in one week is an event known as "Saint Valentine's Day", a holiday associated with romantic love. It is an occasion in which lovers express their love for each other in a special manner, most often depending on their culture and past.
But what is love? How would you define that feeling? I have been told about love before, but it is a most... complicated emotion and no explanation I have heard truly conveyed an understanding of the feeling.

I do not see the point either. As sexuality is an integral part of love in most case, I do not understand why there would be embarrassment at mentioning it. Although I have to mention, there are no bush to beat around close to the terminals.
[ Because he takes every literally. ]

Well, I can see why people would be to embarrassed to mention it in a discussion like this. Humans are taught from a very young age that those sorts of things are private, and bringing them up in public leads to people admonishing whoever does bring it up and that person usually feels shame for doing so.
[Tohko then chuckled to herself as she typed. Data..]
I know there's no actual bush to beat. It was just a metaphor.

Yes, the ethic barrier. I had not realized this was so strong. While this is not a topic we spoke of commonly, Commander Riker usually did not seem embarrassed to speak of the sexual nature of things.
I see. You have spoken in images.
[Text]
And that's probably because Riker wasn't so affected by this as other people. How much it affects someone depends upon the person, you see, but most will get really embarrassed and will try to avoid speaking about it.

I think I understand. Now that I think to it, I believe the Commander may have been an exception. I thank you for the input on the matter.
