[The redhead in question looks quite tired, as though he hasn't slept in quite a while - which, he hasn't. Even as Dark Pit approaches, Asch is rubbing his temple and sighing. He turns to look at the new arrival with something that might be a smile; it's kind of hard to tell, with how tired he looks.]

I should've thought to have you bring me some food. Oh well.

[A couple telltale dishes are stacked on the bookshelf nearest the terminal.]

... I can run down and get you something.

[He didn't think of that, whoops. He plops down in a chair nearby, looking tired himself.]

Have you even slept?

[Don't make him worry about you, dammit. :T]

[He's shaking his head slightly.]

As far as I know, my connection with Luke is the only way to get information in or out - except for people dying, apparently.

[He crosses his arms before frowning.]

If something happened while I was asleep... I wouldn't be able to forgive myself.

[Dark Pit's quiet for a few moments.]

We've... fought before. Never to the death. I knew we weren't both going to make it out of there, so...

[He pulls his knees up to his chest. Even if he were actually Pit's age, he's still young for an angel.]

He wouldn't fight me until I burned him. The last time he'd gotten that close to fire was when he nearly died saving me. I didn't want to, but... I couldn't make him fight me otherwise.

[Dark Pit presses his face into his knees. He feels pretty terrible about it, even though he knows it was what he had to do.]

[There's a pause, and then Asch just nods. Not much to say, really, and it's not like he's suddenly gotten good at comforting overnight.]

I think I would have done the same. [A slightly morbid chuckle that he can't quite cut off.] When it comes down to it, our light halves are really useless at doing what needs to be done.

They really are.

[His voice is still kind of muffled, but at least he's not crying.]

It was stupid. Really, really stupid. He couldn't even kill me at the end. I had to do it myself.

[Asch just rubs at his forehead again - whether it's because of the unusual affairs in the Tower or because he's been connected to Luke for most of the last twenty four hours, he's got a serious headache and is internally really glad that Dark Pit is keeping his voice low.]

That's what we're here for, I suppose. I doubt - no, I know Luke wouldn't be able to do it, either.

[He sighs, and leans back in the chair.]

... We just have to hope they don't totally mess it up.

Well, I can't speak for yours, but out of the group he's wound up with, Luke's one of the only ones actually trying to think strategy.

[He sounds equal parts proud of Luke and frustrated with the rest of them.]

Heh. Pit's captain of Palutena's guard... but he's still an idiot.

If a guard unit doesn't see much use, it's not really that unusual for an idiot to wind up in charge of it.

[Admittedly, both members of the Fon Master Guard he'd known personally were good at their jobs... But they had also been children when assigned their positions.]

Eh. He did end up saving the day 25 years ago. I don't think they've had a lot of action since. I don't know the details of that one, though.

[And those memories are pixely and in terrible resolution anyway.]

[Truth be told, he really does find it interesting. He's starting to get the idea that there isn't really an average way for replicas and originals to interact, but these two seem to be the closest to how he and Luke ended up.]

For a lot of that time his soul was stuck in a ring and I was... nothing. It's not even like I went to sleep, it's like I didn't exist.

[His voice shakes slightly as he thinks back on it. It's not a feeling he wants to feel again.]

That makes Luke the eldest of you, I suppose.

[He's ... Not really sure what to say to the other bit, but he does give a sympathetic shudder. Doesn't sound fun, not at all.]

Yeah, he's seven. Maybe eight, now, with how long he's been here.

He was born sometime near the end of summer in our world, but I don't know how that translates here. The year is much shorter.

No idea. And seasons don't mean a lot when you're flying all over the world. I don't think Angel Land has seasons either. Viridi's sanctuary feels like summer most of the time, too.

True enough. Baticul's seasons were mild anyway, in comparison to other places on Auldrant. It's near the equator, so it's warm most of the year anyway.

[He looks thoughtful a moment, reaching up and rubbing at his head again absently.]

...I think I managed to miss my own birthday. It was only about a month and half away when I got here... Since this calendar only has twelve months, I didn't even notice.

Depends on the person. In our family, it was always a big production, and I imagine it's much the same for anyone in the nobility. But in Daath, I hardly did anything at all.

[Admittedly, only Van had even known his birthday, there. A lack of a birthdate was just another way of hiding his connection to 'Luke," after all.]

... I guess Pitst - Pit... is the only real family I have. I mean he's got the goddess he serves, and there's Viridi... but it's not the same.
