You're allowing yourself to be weakened, adding a weakness you might not be able to cover. If that person is hurt or used against you, it will weigh heavily on your mind, forcing you to either make a horrible decision, or die. Not just physically, but mentally as well.

On the other hand, if you are lost, sins burdening your heart, it can help, and you might find strength you could not on your own. And that desire to see that other person happy is a lot stronger than people give it credit.

Love is a double-edged sword. And much like any weapon, it must be wielded wisely, and taken good care of.

What would you do if given a choice between the one you love and something you believed could help those you swore to protect?

There can be many variations to such a situation. However, I would choose those I swore to protect, but the one I loved would be one of them, would they not?

Besides, I have faith in her abilities, or would if she were here.

Selfish, I realize this. And I never said I was an expert in this matter, as I know the mistake, and cannot deter myself from this one choice.

That person is someone I swore to protect, but I will always try to find every solution. You focus on one alone, you are bound to make even worse mistakes.

But if you do lose that person, allowing it to consume you is something one should never do. I experienced it before, and only pain lies there. You move on, and try and become stronger, not weaker.

I failed to protect her when she needed me most three times already. I don't want to make it a fourth, if that were even possible.
