[It takes him all day to muster himself out of his bed to make this post in the dormitory levels. Had he not been slammed with a message about his new "job", he would have kindly stayed in his room for a day or two just to... he wasn't even sure what the right word was. He didn't need to relax. He needed to detox. His journey home had been short, but he hoped and prayed it was just a dream. Only a dream, please just let it be that. But he'd seen the barren landscape, inhaled the putrid, acidic smell of miasma leaking out of every crack and crevice, seas of purple mud and poison all that remained of his world.
Of course he wanted it to be a dream.
...]
Two questions. Feel free to answer or not.
First: How many of you have been back home? As in: how many have returned to what used to be their home, only to come back? What did you see, and did it... feel real?
[...]
Second: What are we left with if the worlds we all know are really gone? Is it just us, this Tower, countless years and a few grim expectations?
I really am starting to wonder.

I really am starting to wonder.
[voice]; sorry this took all day, I'm running hurdles
I suppose we should be proud.
[His eyes glow green.]
[voice]; don't worry about it - as you can see, I'm a bit jumbled up myself
[There's an uncomfortable sound of confirmation.]
If what you say is true, though, then humanity and its ebbs and flows should not have much use, right? None of us are hidden after all. Neither is our general nature. So why that should be so important to these administrators - or something for us to take pride in - when it might just be beyond our understanding?

These beings seem little different.
[Quite a recounting. There's more, but it's long.]
no subject
But do you really believe them to be like this god that you encountered? Not just in goals, I mean. Do you believe they hold that much power?
no subject
Doom indeed believes these creatures have a sort of goal in mind, and it is either being unhealthily carried out due to their alien nature or they are truly sinister. This lack of information is frustrating if they stand just before us but are just too elusive to understand. Madness! [His eyes flash a bright green and white.]

It would be pretty nice for them to throw us a little more information, though, wouldn't it? I mean, the question and answer session they had before everything went insane was a good step on their part. But they're not really creating a good sense of security by telling us they're saving us while doing who-knows-what with our bodies during their crazy little experiments.
[He hesitates, his expression growing grim.]
And really... you have to wonder if there's a reason for that.

Monsters derive pleasure only from others' pain. I would see them removed from existence for even removing me from my precious work.
no subject
[He shakes his head, ignoring the unusual term and moving on:]
That's the only reason you wish to see them gone, then, Doctor? Just because they are a hindrance to yourself and what you plan to do?
no subject
What other conflict is there than to remove obstacles that obstruct the forward path to victory?

[He thinks "the several that seem to claim themselves as such, anyway".]
no subject
I agree that there are no absolutes, Doctor. But don't you think it's best to keep a balance between the realistic and the optimistic?
no subject
[To the surprise of no one, that's all the Doc is thinking about.]
no subject
He'll just get a shrug of an apology as a response. Sorry, Doctor. he may room with you, but he can't always agree with you.]
