Um, hello everyone. I just had a question that's been bothering me for awhile now and I'd really really appreciate it if you could help me with it.

Anyway If someone is suffering do you think it is right to kill them to end their pain? I really don't know myself....

That's true, but there are times when a person's problems can't be solved any other way.

What if they don't wish for it themselves? Would it still be right to kill them if it is the only way to end their suffering?

What sort of suffering are you talking about?

Terminal illness? A fatal injury?

It is a difficult thing to do. It is normal to seek guidance.

I cannot say whether it is right or wrong, because I do not know. There are times when it must be done, but that does not make it right, only necessary.

That is not to say that you should simply decide it is necessary. It is only a last resort. Be absolutely certain it is the only way.

would depend on their wishes. if they wish to suffer it then you should respect that. if they want it to end, then so be it.

assuming that they hadn't known and tried to tell you beforehand... one shouldn't assume for others. it implies you think your idea of 'what's best' is better than theirs.

but i suppose. that if they're truly so far gone there's no hope at all their situation can change, it may become something close to merciful.

But if they still have every ability to live and function, despite their suffering, wouldn't clinging to life be the better option?

As long as their not hurting someone by continuing to live, I think it's ok.

If they ask it of you, then it is absolutely right. It would be wrong to leave someone suffering when there's something you can do to help. Even if that something is ending it.

Otherwise, it depends on the circumstances.

The peaceful slumber of permanent death is the only way to truly avoid all suffering.
