[Gilbert is at the terminal again, a nutrition bar in his hand. A stack of them can be seen in front of him. He begins to practically shout into the screen, gesticulating angrily.]

Hey, everybody! Gilbert here, and I am PISSED! We've got these stupid bars again! And the restaurant is CLOSED! Definitely, surely, one-hundred-per-cent CLOSED! I checked around the area, in the area, around the area some more, and NOTHING! Maybe we should FORCE the restaurant open somehow! Like, I don't know, we could get in there somehow and maybe raid their ingredients... they've got to still have ingredients.

[An incredibly huffy sigh.] I have to eat bunches of these things before I feel full... [He reluctantly takes a giant bite out of the nutrition bar in his hand.] I've had a nutrition bar month before, but I'd still like to ask you guys: how do YOU survive the Nutrition Bar Lifestyle?

It wouldn't be so bad if we had some juice to go with it. But it had to be water only.

I could really go for a lemonade.

Oh, man! Why did you have to mention lemonade?! Now I'M craving lemonade! Thanks a lot!

Or we could go hunting. Though I guess that wouldn't help with just water.

No! Don't even go there with me! I don't need my stomach to growl any more than it already is! [He takes another huge bite out of his nutrition bar.]

Everyone suggests hunting, but actually doing it... hmm. It's been ages since I actually hunted. Probably literally ages.

I'm not much of a hunter, either. Pretty lousy at it, really.

It's okay. Do you come from modern times? Pretty much no one I know still hunted in modern times where I came from.

Depends what you mean by "modern".

The world I was in before this was what you would call modern, I suppose.

[Though his wording is rather suspicious.]

Um... did you have appliances and TVs and microwaves or anything like that? [It's kind of a weird definition to base modernity on, but it's the one Gilbert's chosen.]

[Hey, Neal will take it, because it does fit with the definition of "modern" in the sense that he's become used to.]

Didn't have a TV but they exist, yeah. Same with the microwave.

I see! That sounds about right to me. The year was 2012 before I came to the tower. Oh, wait, that might not be relevant to you if you're not from Earth... sorry.

I've been living in New York the last few years.

New York... ah, you're American, then. I'm German myself... well, Prussian, really, but it gets a little complicated there.

I'm not actually American. It's kinda complicated.

Thankfully the library is free-- I know a bit about history so you don't need to explain Prussia to me.

That's great! It's nice to see someone who actually keeps up on their history and doesn't go "Prussia what?" when I mention it.

[He gives a bit of an uncomfortable laugh at that.]

I'd like to know more, but the research library doesn't have anything about Earth at all.
