The first voice that boisterously sails from the terminal's speakers is clearly recognizable to those who know her as Sayaka Miki, formerly erstwhile agitator back in.. what seems to be totally unaltered spirits.

"Yo, my lovely towerlies! I hate to interrupt our monthly cycles of being really really sad for a while after getting stupid things done to us, but I wanted to point out something that I thought was very fascinating, actually."

The second voice (that of Jin Shirato) cuts in quickly, unable to resist the comment.

"I don't. Everyone's whining over stupid shit anyway."

Sayaka plods onwards, despite the interjection.

"And for any of those upper - hm, lower, actually - echelons listening in, hey, don't be shy, I'm okay with you hearing this, too. Turn up the volume, put it on a couple extra screens for added effect. Anyway. Just listen to me a for a second. You know what all this information pumping means? All these horrible things you were forced to give away? It's not just random torture, no way, I know what that looks like. They're scared. Of us. Of what we might be doing."

"Make that what we are doing. It's not like they've made habit to be preventative before, after all-- how many blows to their sanctuary do you think is too many?"

"Or maybe just one special guy in particular is the one who's afraid. After all, it was his turn to man the wheel this time. And why not? Buddy, you've got every reason to be nervous. You're the predictable one, and you've already gotten in hot water before. "

"Maybe he's just afraid of turning out like Dax."

"-Exactly. It's just going to be a matter of time until you're complicit in some great final blunder. And I'm on the edge of my seat waiting for it."

The sounds cuts.

How am I stupid? Do you want me to sit like a sniveling piece of shit every time something bad happens to me here? You want me to cry and apologize to everyone every time Jason tries to fuck us over?

Who cares? None of us can die here, they've basically flat out said we're immortal-- and nothing they can do to us is gonna stick because of it, we'll always go back to normal after who knows how long-- why the hell should I get hung up on it? I'd rather make an ass of myself as long as it's pro-active.

Living or dying, so what if it doesn't matter? Do you think it's easy for people around you to watch you make yourself a target? To make yourself someone they're more likely to hurt because you keep pushing things like this in their faces?

Who are you even trying to impress with all of this anyway? It's certainly not anyone who matters.

I'm not getting hurt! Don't you get it? They can do whatever they want to my body, and sometimes they can even fuck with my head, but it's not gonna matter! It's never gonna stick, so there's hardly any point in worrying anymore!

[And he genuinely believes it, too.]

I'm not trying to impress anyone. I'm just trying to piss them off as much as I can to make up for the fact that they're dragging us into this shit.

That doesn't change the fact that these things do happen! So what if it doesn't stick? Does that make the fact that they happened disappear too? Does it change the fact that they torture us, make us murder each other, take away our free will?

[Oh Jin...]

If you're saying it doesn't matter because in the end we're put back the way we were, then you're saying it doesn't matter that they did it in the first place-- and that you have no real reason to be so angry.

Oh please, I have enough reason to be mad just from their cocky faces. [H u f f s]

Of course it happens, that's why I'm mad-- but worrying and crying about it so much before and after the fact like everyone else is pointless. Of course this stuff is gonna happen, and it's gonna suck-- but why the hell would we get upset if it's not gonna matter in a week?

I'd rather get angry and put some effort into it than be too scared to move just because of whatever they wanna cook up next. At least then, I get to keep some of my own freedom.
